You probably know this, but flood insurance is federal and the companies don't determine if it's insurable or not

Good! I'm glad they are ok! I keep messaging my family down there. I have family south of Pearland also so I know they are getting dumped on too. Also have friends who are currently deployed who's homes are being affected and I have checked their families

With events unfolding as they are in Texas..a case can be made for owning a CB/Ham since cell service/ power is completely down in many areas. All you need is a 12 volt battery. Hopefully the rain will subside soon. Doesn't look good at all. Worst case scenario for sure.

Fortunately for my brother, he did take out flood insurance when he bought a couple years ago, even though he not in a listed flood prone area, and it was not required by the mortgage company. I'm sure that he's now very glad that he did. We're hoping for the best, that damage is not too extensive. Most media pictures and videos have been of structures along the waterfront, along Little Bay or Aransas Bay, where the buildings are much more exposed to the horrific winds.

    Thanks for sharing @WarEagleSteve
Man....prayers lifted for all impacted. This is unbelievable and unprecedented, no way to plan for this. A lot more rain in the days to come, not good.

I was here when Hurricane Dolly hit us and that was just a 2, I was back at work fairly quickly and remember driving around and seeing all the destruction that happened, I can only imagine what it is like in the corpus area. I may need to make my way up there to check on some construction projects to see what is left of them.

I gotta a bad feeling it's gonna get really ugly once the shock of all this is over amd reality sets in. Thousands have lost everything, they will become "storm refugees".

Any home part of a home interior touched by water will need to be gutted, dried and rebuilt. Mold spores and chemical contamination have deadly long term impacts. FEMA will be in Texas for many years. Sad.

I agree. Some of my buddies that do home remodeling are heading down to TX for a 6-12 month stent for repairs from Montana.

We had a flood here in Columbia, SC in 2015 and there's still issues and plenty of abandoned homes

We only got 22-24" of rain over the course of like 2 days but we had upwards of 15 dams breach and like 17 people die

Homes will be rebuilt, and it's important that people helping people outnumber the shitheads

What helped here was that once the rain stopped, we had all hands on deck with police and a curfew was instituted and anyone caught out after 11PM was immediately arrested unless they were first responder or hospital staff
