    Old post but.......

Just tackled this job 2 days ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'll be. I've done the 4.7L and I think they're worse. Least with this one, you don't lose coolant. If someone offered to pay me $1k for labor for this job, I'd do it. :D

There was a video on youtube where the guy fished the starter from underneath the truck through the A arms.. no way in hell would this would be possible if you have 4wd w/ front diff. Exhaust manifold (EM) removed was the easiest way I found. Before that, there was a lot of cursing!:mad: Once EM was removed, everything was in front of you. That 10mm bolt that holds the heat shield onto the starter (top left corner) is a PITA if you do not remove the EM, though the 10mm bolt can be removed w/out removing the EM.

Hello folks! Just doing the dutiful research... Got a 2019 crewmax 5.7L

Going through the thread posts I'm wondering, how much of a mess its the starter replacement on newer models? :eek2:

Truck runs perfectly, just getting some info for down the road...

    Thanks, be safe!

Its in the same location as mentioned above nestled underneath the passenger side exhaust manifold.... I've done the work myself on my 5.7 about a year ago, I fished it out the front of the truck and I didn't remove the exhaust manifold, nor coolant lines, for me bleeding coolant fucking sucks...

That's the same question I asked myself over and over, How could these turds place the damn starter behind the exhaust manifold.... While laying on the asphalt in front of my house and having limited amount of time to work on any of my vehicles removing the exhaust was not feasible, on top of cleaning and setting up and placing stuff in the black hole (aka garage), it just couldn't happen... A few Youtube videos helped me make that decision as well... I might do a write up for it, but the pics might suck as I damaged the phone (ran it over, lol) with all the detailed pics, so in a way you may have to just take my word for it, unfortunately...

Undo the nut from the passenger side motor mount and jack up that side of the engine. That will allow you to snake the starter out over the frame rail.
