Hi Everyone , I'm a newbie here, but Im looking for a solution to my problem. In 2008 bought
a 2000 Tundra 4x4 and it has been an exceptional vehicle. About 3 or 4 months ago , the brakes started squealing pretty loud when in reverse . Have brake shoes in rear and disks in front. What could be my problem?

So is the noise only first backup of the day or all day long? It is common in humidish areas for surface rust to develop on rotors overnight and the first scrape of the day is a little noisy. Could be dirt in system (rinse it down) or maybe a rock shield bent slightly out of shape. After that, I'd take it apart, inspect, lube moving parts (slides) and re-install if OK. Luck.

Mine does that. I put new pads and rotors on since I needed them anyway and the new ones do it the exact same as the old. Only does it sometimes and only on the first backup of the day.

very common with toyotas and often in just the first reverse of the day. Post number 2 above, corrosion forms and gets scraped off, not sure why it happens more in revserse vs forward but it does. No issue unless you are having brake noise, vibration, etc all the time.

My 2018 has always done that...the colder it is, the more it squeaks in reverse.

No idea…..I just saw it was common and didn’t worry about it. My neighbors Gen 1 tundra does it when he backs out of the garage too!
