I know many on here will probably nail me to the cross for saying this but I am just the messenger. I took my truck in for a service and spoke with the tech for a few minutes. I asked him about the new Tundra coming out. I brought up the usual talk about the TT V6, TT V6 hybrid and the V8. He said ABSOLUTELY the V8 is sticking around and the two other options are also correct. What caught me off guard was that he said a DIESEL option was coming. I know Toyota makes a TT V8 Diesel overseas. This had me thinking on the drive home. Rumor has it some configuration of the truck will have a 18k lbs tow rating. All of the domestics require you to buy at least a 3/4 ton and a diesel to get to that towing capability. Maybe a diesel Tundra isn't that far out of the question. No matter what comes out I think everyone is excited.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for a diesel. Not to mention the fact that common sense says wait 2-3 years after a new model is released to get all the bugs worked out.

Accurately predicting Toyota's plans for the US market has always (I've been a Toyota person for 35 years) been difficult at best.

Hell, when I wanted a Celica GT-S in the early 1990's they literally told me to go to Long Beach and watch and see what comes down the ramp off the ship. :angrygirl:

Yep, speculation is pretty much futile. We'll just have to wait and see.

If it’s diesel, most likely will be Cummins

I’ll believe it when I see it. I met a Toyota tech once that didn’t know the hood scoop was fake.

I didn’t argue, you know the saying...

You know, they talked about it for years with the Jeeps and I never thought it would happen...until it finally did this year! Hopefully it happens for the Tundra as well.
