Or caught. I would bet that 50% of homeowners have some sort of security system with cameras or the door bell system like Ring.

I threw a shovel at as asshole who'd speed thru our neighborhood. Came too close too many times. He got out and came at me so I beat the stupid out of him in front of his girl. Wouldn't recommend this tactic but it works.

Ok to keep on the legal side, purchase your own speed bump sign and just paint yellow lines on the ground. Might work to slow some down and the sign will stay up as long as the city doesn't see it.

Don't paint a speed bump sign. You're going to scare Fire or PD if they need to get through that area in an urgent matter.

I guess I'm just old-fashioned - and have found with an increase in age comes a decrease in the ability to deal with stupidity. I suppose Newton's Third Law is applicable in this scenario as well...

Go to the thrift store, and buy a beater stroller and a doll. Put the doll in the stroller, along with an open bowl of ketchup, and find a place away from your house where a driveway is sloped to the road. Let it roll out when one of these Andretti wannabes is closing in.

    Repeat as needed.

I have seen small circular silver reflectors on trees on the shoulders of country roads up this way. My best guess is that someone put them there to make people think they are deer eyes at night just to mess with people. Until I got used to them I would slam the brakes every time.

Not effective for during the day, but somewhat related? haha.

I would just go the legal way.

Not sure if it is locals speeding, but if they are local neighbors, just talking to the person man to man goes a long way.

Not sure what part of TX you're in but your county commissioner needs to know of the problem. He can apply more pressure to the sheriff than you can. Also get the constable from your precinct involved.

I think I would just politely make my case to the local LEA in person. If they've been informed and someone were to be struck by a speeder...... They'd look pretty bad and no one wants that. The local paper could be very effective too. You could write the article and post photos of offenders.. A lot of guys are joking about nails and speed bumps etc,,,very tempting but, I believe in keeping the moral high ground in these situations.... Sometimes my beliefs get run over by my actions though.

You could always just tie up a braided steel line across the street after hours and watch the carnage...

But really, I used to live on a long straight street. Went to my local PD with my two neighbor friends (both parents) and sat down with the chief (I think, maybe deputy chief - I can't remember) for a few moments explained the issue and asked him to have one of his boys hang out in my driveway for an hour. Snagged 2 people. They put up speed traps and swing through all the time because they are awesome and find easy targets for public safety violators.

Flew Charlie model Hueys in Nam with those miniguns. Awesome firepower! 4000 rounds/minute. Just think, what you see there is the tracers. The tracers are only every fifth round. So there are four rounds out of five in those streams of fire that you can't see!

As much as I'd like to toss a rock through their front windshield, shoot out their tires and everything else crazy mentioned on here, I'm not that stupid. I'm going to continue to call every day, and like someone posted, talk to the county sheriff (although I've heard he's a real dick), then go higher up with the county commissioner and anyone else.
