If you live in a smaller area, might be easier to find the vehicle. Looks like black side mirrors, chrome steps, a rear wheel that doesn't match the front and possibly a bent front license plate.

That sucks! Crap like that pisses me off. About 15 years ago some vandals roiled through our neighborhood slashing tires. I had 9 tires on three vehicles slashed. Never caught the bastards

    Yep.

Also, Jimmy, this guy was filmed in public; you don't need to consult an attorney about legality of posting it. No law says you can't. Those neighborhood.org groups are sometime great about info sharing. Also, looks like you live in a neighborhood where more than just you likely have video or "Ring" type video/ photo doorbell cams-- if you go around to your neighbors, or post to a local group, prettygood chance there's more captured that can ID this guy.

I agree it sucks so little is done on the court side for theft crimes-- but I bet getting caught would convince this particular thief and his cohorts, not to steal in your 'hood.

This is very true! My wife is on the next door app and all my neighbors are on it. Someone posted video of a teen stealing packages, and within days they found the person on Facebook. The police stepped in after that.

I disagree. You start informing the neighbors and you'll tip this guy off.

Keep it quiet. I have 3 spares you can have for free. That's 3 chances to bait his ass and catch him...

Hey Osidepunker, different states have different rules. Informing the neighbors can be good, if you have a good relationship it’s them. If it’s casual then I agree with you. But I’m certain, it’s someone that knows the OP, or one of the neighbors.

I agree but it’s not necessarily someone that knows or lives around him. I had my plumbing truck stolen years ago. And I am certain someone followed me home from a grocery store I was working at. I noticed a lot of people would look inside my van whenever I open the doors. I had camera equipment. Luckily I had taken that off the truck before it was stolen. So now if I even think someone is following me or makes a turn behind me on my street, I will keep going to see if they keep following me before I stop at my house. Even in the tundra.

This is just basic situational awareness for me. I am always watching the cars around me, including the ones in the rear. If I notice the same car hanging around me for too long, then I take steps to move away from them. For some weird reason a lot of guys like to pace me from the side on my way to work. I go in at 3am so the roads are empty. I usually end up blasting ahead about a mile and then watching them to make sure they stay away from me.

Also, about 15 years ago, my son (5 years old at the time) busted his face on a skateboard. He was bleeding freely so I did a fast run to the emergency room. I did a little weaving on the freeway, but nothing super crazy. Well, when I took the exit ramp, I noticed a car following closely, taking the same turns as me and trying to keep up with my pace. When I pulled into the hospital parking lot, I made several odd turns and circled the lot and sure enough they were following me. So I parked next to the emergency room entrance, right next to a police car. Two dumbass gangsters wearing blue rags blocked my rear and started getting out. I grabbed my knife and got out of the car to meet them at the rear so I could get between them and my son. They both pulled guns and pointed them at me and started spouting a bunch of ghetto sht and threatening to shoot me. So I kicked the car next to me and set off the alarm. They spent another minute or so pretending they were going to to shoot me before they got in their car and left.

Anyways, just a story I thought I would share with you guys. But I always know exactly who is around me at any given time while I'm driving around and no way someone could follow me without me knowing

That’s crazy man! I’m the same way. Always be aware of your surroundings. It’s good that you were. If you weren’t. you might’ve just parked in a normal parking spot and got shot.
    Good thing you’re aware.
