Haha... saw 1st post update. Something Spicy :bananadead:

Saturday morning is gonna look like this:
    :crapstorm:

Plan right now is Fried Rice and Spicy Cumin Beef Skewers (cooked over an open flame I hope!!) Usually I would do lamb, but I know not everyone is down with anything "exotic" :stirthepot:

Only thing undecided right now is if I bring some sort of greens as a side, or just incorporate them into the fried rice.

So speaking of which, I assume everyone is bringing their own plate and utensils. What about the "kitchen" setups? Are we each bringing our own stoves and stuff?

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
I’m not going on this trip but generally we each bring our own cooking supplies so we don’t have to unpack the chuck box but once.

Dean and his son are tentative to arrive on Friday and hang with us, then depart Sat morning for the lake.

Dude that sounds dope! I don't think anybody on this trip is picky about food. Sometimes we get people with food needs, but they usually speak up. And yeah, we'll have fire for sure. Everyone needs to make sure they bring some firewood

Yeah everyone is BYO for plates and eating utensils. That way we don't have to carry out a bunch of trash. I have a hot water system soap and sponge if anyone needs to wash dishes. As for kitchen setups, Roy is correct, we usually bring our own set ups because most guys want to cook with their own stuff. But we can share depending on what we're cooking. You just need to work it out ahead of time. For example, I recently switched my kitchen to very basic and minimalist. So my meals will reflect that. However, Zac sometimes brings a huge camp chef. If he does, I'll cook something different.

Cool... I have a stove and a decent pan for the fried rice, but if someone else has another pan I can use that night, I'll also make some sort of sauteed greens.

There's a ridiculous amount of broken glass and nails all around Trona, especially around the camp areas. I bring a magnetic sweeper everytime I'm out there to clean up around camp a little.

Also, it gets windy as fuck out there the majority of the time -- even if you try and camp between the pinnacles for shelter -- but you can occasionally get lucky with no winds.

Speaking of which, I hope everyone is bring mostly canned beverages. With the huge availability of canned beer these days, there's no reason to bring glass bottles any more.

Haha!! We always carry cans. We care about the environment, but that's not the only reason. Glass always breaks in our coolers/fridges

Except the bourbon. I haven't found canned bourbon yet...

I won't lie... There was a bit of wind. This was a panoramic shot though, so in actuality we were completely surrounded by these pinnacles, so I'm not sure that any better spot could be found in this immediate area.

@Spvrtan btw, the area was very clean. I didn't see any broken glass or nails on the ground. We drove around pretty much every trail there looking for a camp site and the place was immaculate.

That's good to hear. There could've possible been a clean up by some group or maybe I just have bad litter experiences every time I go there. We usually try and snag one of the main "sheltered" spots and maybe they're more popular with the litterers. The two times I was at this spot I was able to find at least 2-3 handfulls of nails..
