Getting 305/65R18 for my CM. Considering leaving suspension stock for a while to absorb the $$ hit. At some point though I will want to lift the front just enough to look good and give clearance for the tires. I'm an old man when it comes to how I like my vehicles to ride, nice and cushy. What's my best choice for long term happiness? I realize pricing is ranging from $200 to $2,500 but I put a premium on using factory parts wherever possible as I believe the engineering is important and I want the factory standing behind their product particularly on a $45k vehicle.

Would appreciate hearing from people who have actually owned/ridden in trucks equipped with each. Regarding the Pro my understanding is the ONLY difference is the shock/coil itself and not arms or any other part of the suspension.

    Thanks,

Two coachbuilder shims will give you an additional 1" up front and won't change ride.

Remember tire width will almost always govern "clearance" before height...assuming stock +60 offset.

If you want cushy ride, why are you getting 305/65/18 (I assume is an e-rated tire)? Non-TRD factory shocks and p-rated tires will give you more comfortable ride.

So the shims are a spacer lift. Seems I've read here many times to avoid spacers. Does this not apply because it's a very short lift or for some other reason?

not enough height for any significant change in ride.

Why 305/65/18 though if you are not getting your truck lifted/leveled?

If you are determined to get something larger than stock, look into GoodYear DuraTrac. I have Trail Grappler on Tundra and my wife's Nissan van has DuraTrac. Her van (1-ton van) rides definitely smoother than my Tundra. (Have you considered 275/70/18 or even 295/65/18?)

Going with Method NV in 18x9 which I'm told is too wide for 275/70. 295/65 looks great but have read the Duratracs get noisy with miles on them and really are a near mud tire which I have no need for. found this guy on that other forum who put 305/65 on a stock suspension and it's pretty close to just right. could use about 1" in the front. Sounding like $75 in shims would get it done with no impact on ride quality.

9 inch rims aren't too wide for 275/70's.

each shim is .25" so .5 isn't going to make any noticeable difference in geometry.

Yes, Shims are different from spacers. I'm curious to know why people say to avoid spacers?

Changes geometry of suspension parts making it easier for them to fail/break and puts too much preload on stock shocks where you will top out and bottom out much easier

Concur. I'm running 275's on a 20x9 fuel wheel. No issues and looks great! Went 275 to avoid any possibility of rubbing and keep cost down.

If you want 1/2" spacer up front, try these. $25 shipped. High quality, look great, and not overpriced.

just to follow up I went with two CB shims on each side. ended up taking the 305s off but do like the look with the 1" of lift it supposedly gave me even on stock wheels/tires. have not noticed a change in ride.

imo 305 + 9" wheels looks great but is too much weight for stock suspension on these trucks.

I run 305/65R18s on 18x9 +25 methods. I have 6112s on the front. Did rub a tiny bit on the little flaps between the tire and front bumper. Took em off and pushed the liner forward. No issues now
