Your premium will go up. I had an incident where a shuttle company totaled my truck while they were moving it. I ended up getting dinged. It took me six months to finally get all of the money I was owed. Always have your receipts for everything you do and every mod you have had installed on the truck... PERIOD. The receipts is what saved my ass.

Shuttle company wasn’t on the hook for that? Insane especially with how bad every shuttle seems to treat customer vehicles. Nothing says awesome like bouncing an empty drift boat trailer over washboard at 50 mph.

The two shuttle drivers were apparently drag racing to see who could get to the destination faster. It was my Tundra (Supercharged) and another... Only one witness survived in the accident, but they believe the two were drag racing and one of the trailers was clipped and then chaos ensued. I also have a Pavati which only fits on Pavati trailers as they are extra wide bottom and since my trailer was destroyed in the wreck we had to get a flatbed down to the take out point... all super fun stuff. The driver was cut out of my vehicle after driving through a tree and over a boulder. The other driver lost control and went through a telephone pole and then flipped upside down in a ditch and was crushed.

it took forever because they only wanted to pay MSRP on a used SR5 2018… then the fight began.

I had a meeting with my AAA policy guy today, he said my premiums will absolutely not go up. And that they will recover any additional costs, and waive my deductible. I think that's a good start!

Has nothing to do with the state of the country. Folks have driven without insurance for years, hence the reason it was made illegal to do so.

Might I encourage you to not ever come visit Tennessee. I just registered my new to me Tundra here in Tennessee. The only thing they asked was, "I need to see your Driver's License", and "How do you want to pay the registration fee?". They do not require proof of insurance to title/register/renew a vehicle in Tennessee, and they don't even ask. Heck, if you're too busy, you can always just ask Jim Bob from down the street to do it for you, they don't care if he doesn't own the vehicle, they will renew the registration for anyone who swipes their credit card.

This is not just limited to in-person registrations at the County Clerk either. When we bought my Wife's 2018 4Runner from the dealership (it was not a small dealership either, it was an Infiniti Dealership, which is connected with the Nissan Dealership right across the street, we also have a Nissan Headquarters a mile down the road too). They did not ask for, or care about insurance since we were paying in full, up front, with no financing. Left the dealership with a temp tag, and the full plate arrived 4 weeks later.

Also, please understand, I am not now, nor will I ever drive my vehicles uninsured. Both vehicles are owned outright, with no liens, and I maintain full coverage on both.

It's just absurd. I get people are going to do it regardless of whatever laws you put in place. And I don't know if it's because of how laws are written, or they just don't want to deal with it, but there is zero follow-up from law enforcement when an uninsured driver causes or is in a wreck. In my accident it was on the police report, but the only thing the driver was cited for was the failure to yield citation. I don't get why they can't tack on another citation for driving with out insurance. I'm sure there's more to it, but it seems to me like if there were like a hefty fine and suspended license it may discourage people more.

Folks that drive without insurance typically have no issue driving on a suspended license as well.

Interestingly enough, This dude who smashed my truck did have a current license. I was talking with the insurance company yesterday, they will be going after him in court. I say, it sucks to be him!

Hey captain that really really really blows, my truck was $40k in repairs from my smash up a few months (yup months) back they are repairing mine lol so I won’t be shocked if they write it off if no a/b deployed and the frame is good then they will repair it.

mine comes back this week hopefully pretty much everything was replaced on it except for the cab frame..... my post about it is somewhere if you wanna look. It was all four sides of my truck

    glad you’re okay

Thanks for the input! The shop is highly reputable, so I feel confident they will do excellent work. The frame is bent 6mm just behind the cab on the passenger side. they say thats very minimal, and will easily pull out. The total quote for repair is $10,500. your truck must've been much worse than mine to be 40k in damage!

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Two concerns I would have. First bring assured proper corrosion treatment being applied and being made whole on the Carfax hit come time to trade or sell the truck. If you intend to sell it to the scrapyard the first point is the important one.

Yup, dealing with our car this week. State Farm kept trying to get us to a body shop they wanted, we said no thanks we have a good one.

Second rear ender this year, last one was totaled, I think this one might be as well.. driving is the worst it has ever been.

Yeah that’s an issue coming time to sell and or trade the vehicle, it is the biggest annoyance in the whole process but I hear wha you’re saying

Hahahaha... It is funny that you ask... When I initially called the person on the phone was being an ass and would only reply with, "we will decide if it is to be considered totaled or not"... I finally replied with... I refuse to accept your answer if it is anything other than "TOTALED" and hung up... I didn't want to hear the response again. (two hours into the incident... I received more help from the Pavati crew who made sure my son and I had a ride, a trailer and truck to pick up my boat at not charge, and immediate action to begin sourcing me a new trailer)

Steel bumpers RULE! I have a MT 4x4 bumper on the rear of my FJ... a Taco rear ended me at 30mph and crushed in his entire front end and cracked his block... I was at a dead stop at a traffic light. He admitted he was looking at a house fire a few blocks away and just didn't stop. Then he pointed at my bumper and asked if that was legal!? I reminded him that he rear ended me at a red stop light. PEOPLE!!! My bumper had a minor scratch and very small dent in a facia piece and zero issues with the bumper's integrity! His truck was totaled.

The only issue I've seen with the steel bumpers is that they can be rigid enough to transfer all the force to the frame. This is most important in off angle impacts that can twist/bend the frame more readily than a direct rear end/head on.

I hear you... but they can also protect people or your vehicle (selfishly). I use my rigs for off-roading and overlanding... I have used my bumpers to slide over rocks and pivot on trees, etc. I was able to drive away without issue to include zero injuries to myself, etc.
Also, one could argue that if my Tundra that drove through a tree hadn't had a steel bumper up front or rock rails, it would have collapsed and killed the driver. (a statement from both a Deputy and the Recovery Team). They cut her, the driver, out and she walked away with a scratch on her forehead from the airbag.
Now... would I rather be hit by moving plastic while on my motorcycle or bicycle? 100%
Another note, I did have my FJ checked for 4 wheel alignment and the rear bumper inspected by Metal Tech 4x4 (local here in PDX). Everything was good to go!
More importantly, mods are a choice and they are legal, to include a steel bumper.

Semper FI and Happy 246th Birthday to all of my Brothers and Sisters.

I had an insurance guy say something similar like, "hold your horses" I said STFU and send me my check.

Not even as gnarly as yours but knew my 5 year old traverse was worth less than it would cost to fix it.
    upload_2021-11-10_12-0-13.jpg

If you look the truck on the right, it does go to show how much safety has come in modern vehicles. That's a 99 chevy, the engine was pushed into the cab and broke the dipshit's femur. I had a headache and sore neck.

People suck ass. Wife backed her 4R into the neighbor who was parked on the edge of the street across from our driveway. He lives next door but parked over there while someone was doing some work at the house. Another unneeded bill before the holidays. :annoyed:

How is that your neighbors fault? Is street parking not allowed? He moved his vehicle so service crew could have access to his property. I do this all the time. The street is public parking. You should be pissed at your wife for not knowing how to drive properly. :facepalm:I mean who backs up without looking where they are going?

Ouch! At least you guys are good enough to own up to it and let your neighbor know. Having been on the receiving end of multiple hit and runs on my parked car, I applaud you guys for owning the mistake.
