how did you determine that that is the sound curve (on the rta) you wanted?
As far as i know, i'm running a completely flat curve (the fix86 does it automagically). I heard that thats what you want, but no idea the backing behind it.

Most systems need a slight bump in the bottom end to maintain a natural sound and a slight roll off at the top end to keep the system from sounding harsh.

I sent the curve to ARC audio and they wanted to use the photo, stating it was the perfect curve.

A couple of shots of the rear of the front door panels after putting Dynamat on them to kill the resonance.

I think I'm going to start to mess with the software for the fix86 and see if I can mess with it. I definitely feel like I need to take the really highs and give lows a little bit extra

I would love to see your system. I also am curious to see on an RTA how your systems looks. I would like to see just what the FIX86 from JL is doing when you let it set the system automatically. Do you have access to an RTA?

Don't really have access to an rta, I've looked into getting one before.
There's a link to my build in my signature.

Please keep in mind that in SQ competition you tune on the 3db per octave scale. This is as tight as the rules test at. With my system I am using the 2db per octave scale to achieve this curve. That is MUCH tighter than competition judging is done at. So this curve would be hard to achieve with some of the best SQ systems in the world.

@Vector W8 , when cutting the filler to the size of the XTC baffle, how many layers of filler do you lay in the baffle...1 layer or more?

I pack as many layers in there as I can. It should be pretty stiff if you press on the back of the baffle.

if you need any help with the fix software, give a shout. i wouldn't say i'm an expert but i've put some time into learning it.

i use the audio tools app. it has an RTA curve along with a number of other goodies.

Thx @smslavin ! I have been working hard on the tune with the help of VectorW8. I ended up getting a mini dsp umik-1 and using REW on my laptop to tune the helix. I'll be posting an in-depth process on the tune in my build log. But I was getting a little frustrated the the Fix86, so kenwood head unit will be delivered today.

i don't want to derail vector's thread too much but, the fix software doesn't have any measurement capabilities. you have to use an external device like what vector has done. with the audio tools app on my phone, i can get a rough RTA curve from the mic on my phone. if the truck is on and the phone is connected, the app also lets me run pink noise through the stereo which i can read on the RTA curve. is it as good as a calibrated measurement mic? no but, it gets me in the ball park.

i'm eventually going to pick up a measurement mic as i need one to calibrate the reference monitors in my office space for my studio work. once i have that done, i'll put it in the truck and dial things a bit more.
