It seems like I'm the only one active at US nighttime hours. I assume everybody else has a dayshift sleep schedule. Lol anybody else on the forum on the graveyard shift?

Weekdays I go to bed anywhere between 9-11pm. Up at 4:30 every morning. Weekends I try to stay up as long as I can. I prefer to be a night owl. I lurk here on and off all day everyday lol.

I used to work 1pm to 10pm officially, and 10pm to 7am on call. Most dudes at my old shop hated that schedule but in my 20s I was such an insomniac bar fly it worked out. I couldn't sleep anyway and while I was waiting between calls I just hung out at bars.

Now I have the boring day shift.

Yup. EMT. I'm up at about 4 PM....go to bed about 8 AM.

And yeah, I've also noticed this forum seems pretty dead at night.

I've just been out for the last three hours, from 1AM-4AM replacing the exhaust on my car, a 2000 Subaru outback.

And you know what? My truck is still a hell of a lot quieter. The subaru sounds like a sewing machine factory in comparison.

One of my previous jobs was a commercial service tech. Plumber LOL. We would do service during typical hours, but whenever we ran into something that had to be done in the night, they would send us home with just enough time off that they wouldn’t have to pay us overtime to come in and work all night. Whether it was a leak repair, sewer repair or jetting the drains of the grocery store I was working in. It killed me every time. There was no getting used to anything because it would happen every 2 to 3 days. Sometimes every day. They tried to church it up and tell me, “well you got the next day off!” . No I don’t I’m freaking dead tired and I have to come in the following morning at five. Only to have it happen all over again. Go work for five hours and then they send you home to come in again for another night job. Glad I’m out of there.

I always think about retirement but I know I’ve got so many years left to go. And I don’t want to be into much of a hurry.
