So, while backing into single car garage, I hit the side and busted the side mirror housing (glass is still intact).

Side mirror had all bells and whistles; power folding, heated, BSM, turn signal, and auto-dim.

looking at the mirror replacement is ~$1100 from dealer (can get a couple hundred cheaper searching web)

was wondering if it would be possible to get a “cheap” OEM power folding mirror replacement and swap out the glass with the existing glass with all the bells and whistles?

Check the build link in my signature.
The glass, unfortunately, is the cheapest part, and the "features" in it are just a couple of LEDs and the heater wires attached to the back. Everything else is in the actual frame, including the necessary wiring. You might be able to surf the classifieds here and on FB Marketplace and CL and get lucky with a set of factory take-offs from someone that upgraded to tow mirrors. Or consider getting a set of Boost Auto tow mirrors for yourself (a full set will run less than what you are looking at for a single factory mirror).

After removing the glass, it looks like the turn signal, bsm, auto dim, and heat are all built into the glass and not the actual unit. These are all wired to the same connection type on all side mirrors.

I am hoping to remove the broken mirror and see if the wiring can be pulled out and used on cheaper power folding mirror.

dont want to buy tow mirrors, as I do not tow often enough to want to keep on.

Yes, that is the piece needed!

is there a part number just for that, or only disassembled models?

Did you have a write up or pictures/video of your mirror project?

    Alright, so project complete!

Was able to replace the outer housing with a new donor from another power folding mirror with puddle lights (thanks thomasbus337!), while keeping the same internals and glass.

Did the repair with the mirror attached to truck. Entire process took about 20 minutes, and saved $1,000+ versus replacing entire mirror assembly with OEM (could not find aftermarket that had all the same features).

Starts with disconnecting the glass from the power mirror mounts (I’m sure there is a better way to remove the glass, but this was best and most effective method I tried)6783F633-78A5-44FA-B6E2-C295AA4FF884.jpg

Disconnect the the auto-dim and bsm/turn signal connector from glass

Remove the 4 screws holding the power mirror to the internal “arm”, then disconnect the wiring harness connected to it

Remove the 2 screws connecting the internal arm to the outer housing, and disconnect the puddle light. Also removed the mirror cap

Pull the outer housing away from truck and then up slightly, sliding the outer housing off the internal arm
