Side Mirror Defrosters

I have a 2018 Platinum. The side mirrors have an icon on the inside of the mirror surface that imply a defroster.

I read that they come on when rear window defroster is on.

Question: Does this icon illuminate like the blind spot monitor?

Mine doesn’t. Is this an option?

Mine does not illuminate on the mirror, but it does indeed work when you hit the rear defrost button.

Near I can see they only work on a crew cab

 

They work on my double cab. There’s a button for them.

Question: I have a 2015 SR5 Crew 4x4. Both heated mirrors just stopped working a few weeks back - the one cold week we had. My next move is to find the fuse and see if that solves it. If not, I'm thinking replacing, but wanted to see if anyone had similar experience? both out at same time

 

Could be wiring

 

With both going out at the same time, my guess would be the fuse.

It was sudden - Freeze was the only "new thing" but nothing else. I believe the fuse for these is by parking break, where you have to be a yoga master to crawl under. I couldn't find a reference to another fuse for mirrors in engine fuse box. Ya'll heard different?

 

On my 2021 Ltd, the button also activates the windshield wiper de-icer. It shuts off automatically after about 15 minutes

Here is the wiring diagram and the appropriate fuse.
It also has it's own relay that turns then on and off with your rear window defroster switch.

It should be in the driver's side fuse box

Fuse looked good, replaced it any way and that was not it. wonder if Relay is possibility.. Strange thing was both mirrors went out at same time

 

Hmm. That's weird. Do the power adjustments work on both of them, and it's just the defrost that doesn't?

 

Power adjustments work fine - just the friken heat on them. It will be out of sight out mind for a while since we dont have many real cold days in San Antonio, just bugs the crud out me... and I dont wanna take it to dealership to trouble shoot
