Hey all wondering if anyone else has noticed this on the 2022+ tundras.

I have a 26’ camper weighing ~ 5000lbs (UVW) maybe have an extra 1000lbs added in of other stuff.

My wife and I embarked on a week long trip with the camper this passed weekend. It was my first time towing with the new truck and let me tell you its bomb does a very good job. But I did noticed after an hour into our drive a shutter in first gear. The shutter occurs at 15km/hr -22km/hr once the truck shifts into second and beyond there is no more shutter noticed. Has anyone that’s been towing with the new trucks noticed this at all or any similar expirences? I did tow a car hauler flat bed with two mini trucks on it a few weeks back <3000lbs total and I didn’t have it then (used tow/haul) with my camper I used Tow +. ANother addage is I did today help move my neighbours camper as well and the same thing happened at a lesser degree and his camper weighs 4100lbs UVW maybe an extra 500lbs in his. I do use an WDH adjusted properly to both trailers (only 1/4” if that of lift in the front end when measured) Any ideas or thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.

I think it has something to do with my prop shaft and or drive line or transmission (I hope not). But anything would be good if any one else has ad a similar issue.

    Thanks all

It may not be truck related, but check all of your trailer tires for flat spots or out of roundness?

I had that when taking off with my trailer. It was much smaller trailer. If you maintain that slow speed, you can see trailer bouncing up and down.

It does feel like a shudder sort of.

Tires and everything are all good check them every time even double check but I did think of that prior thanks!

This was actually very informative. I think I may try adjusting the WDH now and see if I can get the sag out of the rear end before investing in bags or shims. But that makes the most sense since the sag with the 20ft trailer (my friends) the shutter was less still there but less and his hitch was not adjusted to my truck just a quick one. But it would also make sense because when towing the hauler there was noted shutter and the sag was minimal still some but not as much as with the campers for obvious reasons. regardless I feel like that’s a lot of stress on the pinion.

I posted on another thread. I was 4000lb trailer and bed full of gear. It did it at 1900rpms from dead stop.

Leaf springs have torque twist, which is where the axle will literally twist the springs into and S from the wheel torque being generated. Ecoboosts were notorious for doing it due to the high torque of the engine and soft half ton springs.

The tundra should do that since its a 5 link suspension, but maybe the torque is so high in first gear that it causes the bushings and stuff to wiggle
