Obviously she’s the clear winner in this thread. :D
I don’t think I can convince my wife of any type of shenanigans to compete.
    So I’m out.

In theory; this could be the thread of the year.
Possibly even decade, given the thread title :D

I was visiting Snoqualmie, WA during their recent state of emergency "snowmageddon". Unlike the locals, was well prepared for snow recovery. I was off work, far from home, and the roads were a total cluster, so spent the whole day pulling people. The camper van in the photo, with my orange ARB snatch strap dangling while we let other traffic pass, I ended up dragging him backwards probably a mile up a snowy hill, dropped off until the thaw where it wouldn't block traffic.

This is a stock 2012 Rock Warrior on BFG KO2s with Ruud 4x4 chains.

Let me just add that, in 100K of four-season towing and offroading, the OEM open-diffs with "e-LSD" have done the job. Sure lockers are nice, and if I get a new TRD Pro I'll probably go ARB, but the stock truck will definitely do the job. Good tires like the mountain-and-snowflake KO2 (and chains as needed) are the key.

Now that I had a closer look at the photo, the strap is on the Astro van that needed to be snatched. The other, larger van was the one that got a long ass tow because it was completely hopeless and I wanted to get it out of the way and closer to its uphill point of origin.

The above is all happening less than a mile from Dirtfish rally school, which was shut down by this weather for the first time ever, and my training had to be rescheduled. Good times though, fun day playing in the snow. Services were completely overwhelmed, so it was good to get some peeps rescued including state employees trying to get to their heavy equipment.

With weather like this once every few decades, the region didn't have nearly enough plows to deal with this.

I only had the one set with me.. but back at the homestead crossing pastures or pulling the equipment flatbed, I've used both sets on occasion. These Rud chains https://chainstop.com/truck-tire-chains/grip are easy to handle, and the other set is heavy duty and more of a pain, so I've been tending to bring just the Rud set as part of the winter travel kit. And snow shovel, sand, shackles, straps, Hi-Lift, LiPo jump starter, rubber hunting boots, Goretex head to toe, warm sleeping bag, water, first aid, and so on.

The gear has come in handy over the years, and it's good to have the option to sleep comfortably in the cab or bed (or cargo trailer) if say the roads are closed or some other major issue arises. I used to make regular 900 mile runs in lightly traveled cold areas.. but thankfully that's in the past.
