30 bucks for 8oz of tire coating.... it better work as a patch as well for that kind of price. @ToyoMafia did you purchase?

Lol negative. There is no tire products in this world worth that. My go to now is griots matte black spray. I don’t believe that stuff will last that long.

I will say I am very happy with that spray I bought from them. I actually blown away by how good its preformed so far.

I'm using CG tire cleaner and dressing and it holds up really well even with me driving on dirt constantly.

Second the nod for the Griots stuff. Recently tried the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Tire Coating......been very happy with that also.

Yeah wheels and tires take so much abuse. I will never ceramic coat another wheel it’s just a huge waste of time and money. I still like optimum gel on a tire if I’m feeling motivated. I’ll try the TW sometime also.

By default I don’t buy CG anything but they do have a few products that preform well.

From talking to you a while back, I realized it wouldn't be beneficial for me to coat my wheels. No regrets about it.

Which tire gel? I think my neighbor has used it. I need to do another Optimum tire coating on my truck. I just did the wife's. I love it. No redoing the tires for months

I applied the 303 graphene spray a few weeks back. So far it has not stopped raining in Oregon. I was very impressed with how easy the application was. I am also super impressed with the results on the windows. Truck still looks fairly clean despite two weeks of solid rain. Next project is the girlfriend’s 2019 black 4Runner, I feel like that will be a better test of the product. So far for the money I definitely recommend the product.

Deviated from my limited product lineup and brands and bought some Griots 3 in 1 based on what I’ve read in these detailing threads. Excited to give it a try this weekend.

You're gonna love it....just do not apply it on a hot panel or in direct sunlight....and don't over apply. If you get a streak....apply a little to a microfiber and wipe to reactivate. Easy application, excellent gloss and outstanding longevity

X2. I’ll ask the stupid question. What would be a good base coat? I’m new to this whole ceramic coating thing and thought it was something someone with a lot of experience had to do out of fear of myself messing it up. Is there a good DIY base coat for a beginner?

So many coatings out there. CarPro cquartz 3.0 uk edition has been one I have used a lot. I just applied underdog pro and honestly it was easier but like all coatings you just need to follow all the steps. Prep is everything when it comes to a proper application.

Echo what @ToyoMafia said....prep is key. I've applied Avalon King's Armor Shield to 2 vehicles and carpro cquartz 3.0 to my sequoia. I seem to like the cquartz a but more. Both have been doing well. Avalon King seemed slightly easier to apply (just barely easier), but I like cquartz hydrophobic and self cleaning properties slightly more. I've been topping my Avalon King with bead maker every couple washes. I've topped the cquartz with hydro2

After testing these out, had to pickup some bigger bottles. 510/520 is the truth. Giving the Sonax a shot as well. They're pricy but the end result is better/comes quicker so it's worth it for my sanity.

I am picking up my brand new vehicle hopefully this month, when it’s delivered. 2022 Tesla M3 Performance. Should I do the two bucket wash, clay bar? I want to PPF it; at least the front end since it sits decently low and will want to avoid rock chips

I'd personally say to always 2 bucket wash. When I get a vehicle, I always do a good detail like wash, clay, and then apply protection. Last 3 or 4 vehicles we've bought have all been full decon, clay, polish, etc....then coated or waxed.

Whatever you do....make sure you get those tires clean....and I mean surgically clean. Here's a link to a video featuring Yvan LaCroix when he was still with Optimum:

Trying this out for the first time since @ToyoMafia recommended it after making fun of my wheel wells when I detailed my truck. But think I’m going to need a second coat.

It actually didn’t work that well. Will probably have to use Cerakote on the plastic first then every wash use the Classy Chassis.
