Gorilla platform scaffolding for vehicle roofs. Normally $70 at home depot but they're currently on sale for $35 so I picked up two. No more single step ladder for me.

20" tall, about 4' long. Good for me for most suvs/regular sized trucks (I'm 5' 10" for reference).

Shot of them folded up with dimensions. We have a 2019 Audi Q7 in for correction and coating now. Will put them to use tomorrow. Felt great using them when we were washing/clay barring the vehicle earlier to prep it.

I need a set of those ladders. I hate having to move my 4' ladder just to get all of the roof on one side when drying or waxing.

Question for you detailing aficionados. Brand new car. No paint protraction installed by dealer.

What would you do initially? Wax, polish, sealant...or? Not interested in the professional ceramic treatment.

wash, decontamination, maybe a light polish if needed...follow up with a good quality sealant like Jescar UltraLock or WolfGang SIO2 sealant (my personal favorite)......sit back, enjoy your work and reward yourself with your beverage of choice...and perhaps a good cigar if the spirit so moves you

Get that pigeon sh!t off as soon as you can before it etches the clear coat....those things have sinister digestive tracts. Never used the paste wax version of that product, but used the liquid version (maroon bottle) for many years.....one of the first AIO's...although they never marketed it that way. It was always a solid product, IMO.

So after decontamination, does one wax it first and then use the sealant...or skip the wax? I don't think a polish will be needed. Vehicle has 44 miles and is a bright blue in color.

Sealant first then wax. Stacking is all but useless anymore but if that's what you want to do, rule of thumb is the most durable product (sealant) goes down before the least durable (wax).

As alluded to by CKatz53, there's not always a lot of love for stacking anymore. The only thing the wax gives you is a sacrificial layer, and in some cases, may enhance the depth of color. The first sealant I used was Meguiars Ultimate Wax, and I thought it muted the color. With WG SIO2, I've not had that issue. I highly recommend it for slickness, ease of use and durability.

I had a funny feeling that might be the case. I use very little paste wax of any kind anymore.

Drove about 800 miles for the holiday. Most of it was highway, but there were several gravel roads. Decided to do a foam wash only when we got home.

Foam did not stick to the paint. It was like it hit and started to slide off immediately. Followed up with a pressure rinse. The only thing left that I could detect with the naked eye was some hand prints from the kids. The car looked like I had just given it a thorough wash. So far I'm very pleased with the Color N Drive ceramic coating.

Dried it off with backpack blower :D.

Easy tip for coated vehicles: after washing and rinsing, take your nozzle off the hose and use the open hose to flood the car. A vehicle with a solid coating will shed the water off leaving next to none left to dry off. Makes for a quicker process!

I've been doing this on the vehicles lately and it makes it so much quicker and nicer! Van is ceramic coated with Avalon King and topped with bead maker. Truck is coated with cquartz and topped with hydro2. Both I started doing this "flood drying" method and have only a few big drops on the top then mostly just the water that falls out the cracks of doors, windows, handles, etc. Dries so much better and quicker!

Did my own ceramic / hydrophobic coating, I worked for a distributor who gave me a sample for my truck. Followed the you tube video and it came out great. Simonize Glass Coat 537078B1-8BFB-4AE9-BC6B-3A8654DF2957.jpg is the brand name.
Put it on the backup camera to keep the dirt off as well. Compared to the Winshield (not coated) water drains off more rapidly. I took this picture after driving around in the rain for 3 or 4 days it is unwashed since application and still looks good. We will see how it holds up down the road?

Will do, figured the reviews and videos Ive watched made it decent/good over a lot of others for $240 especially gpm output was worth the try. Gave me a chance to upgrade my old gas washer and new toys for it.

cant say I had any complaints with the active setup, super easy, lightweight and compact, great flow and pressure for its size especially the flow.
