I did a couple of panels with Ignition last night. It seems really good at first glance. I’ll follow up when I use it more thoroughly.

I’ll be testing it on a black exhaust tip and maybe my smoker this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation.

Purchased the lights but slapped together the stand from PVC. DIY paint correction stand. T8 5k @ 6500LM V shaped LED bulbs (each). Not using the 4th light bothered me so I'm editing the post...added the 4th.

That's what I thought. I just took some spare 2"x2" wood blocks and sanded grooves in them. Works well!

Conventional wax (carnuba) to a ceramic is a bit of a quantum leap. Like most things, prep is the key, especially with a coating. Have you considered any of the quality sealants that are out there, either polymer based or SIO2 infused? They will get you longer protection than a wax, but can still be topped with a wax to get the depth of color that some sealants lack.

Got this from Walmart recently. I wouldn’t use it on paint, but it worked great for cleaning the grill on the Tundra.

Picked up a Scangrip knockoff from Amazon. The reviews are promising! Will be put to test this weekend with a 2018 GMC Yukon full correction and coating.

Amazon reviews seem pretty good. Only some complaints about the charging stand. A few stating they have multiple Scangrips and this was bought as a backup but they've found it to be on par with it. Knowing what I know about electronics and light systems...I could never justify a Scangrip.

You guys are WAY ahead of me in most things. I decided to try the Adams Iron Remover....mainly based on cost.

    TL1dteegF4PEBigkPeAcbI23o6LHv1n9iMftp5Ny_3409110b07788db5c6eec3fbd6c5132e84a43401.jpg

I am happy to report that it had no "stench" that I commonly read about with iron removers. At first, I didn't think it was working because I didn't see any purple on the paint. Then I looked at the concrete in the driveway.

This one shows it on the paint in the background:
    obaamJChNWrleEQbottT0FcFcdP-Q_FZ9eEtsidT_b7eb54d1e537d10f175096c476dd179b3e95b7f2.jpg

Then I looked at the ground and couldn't figure out if my truck spilled its glass of wine or recently became a woman....

I'm impressed at how much came off of it. Of course, I washed again right after this. Then I polished the hood and waxed the whole truck.

So I've asked a couple of places and no one has really been able to give me an answer. I fully expect someone in this thread to have an opinion.

    First question: Ceramic or Graphene?

Second question: Which brand, and why?

I was talking to a neighbor who has a black car and it looked b-e-a-utiful. Like looking in a black mirror with no swirls or scratches. I mentioned that I had a black Expedition at home and that it looked good from afar, but far from good up close. Seems like no amount of polish / wax keeps it looking good for any remarkable length of time. He told me that he did a paint correction and ceramic coat 5 years ago and that was the last time he did any kind of paint correction. o_O

His mostly sits in the garage, but even with occasional use 5 years is a long time for it to look that good. So now I'm planning on doing a paint correction and either a ceramic or graphene coat on the Expedition.:benchpress:

My opinion on ceramic vs graphene.....would be ceramic. Mainly, because they've been around longer and there's a lot more data to draw from. I've also yet to see a side by side comparison that tells me that graphene is any better than ceramic. I have a tendency to look at the more established (and user friendly) coating brands, such as Car Pro Cquartz.

To be fair, I'm not really a 'coating guy'. I currently have a 1-year coating (DR Beasleys) coating on my truck, and, to me, it looks pretty good. I'm not sure if I want to stay with it, or go back to the 6-month intervals I got from sealants.

Couple hundo in new stuff. Giving Angelwax a shot as I've heard very good things. Some LC foam interface wool cutting pads. Rotary 5 inch and 3 inch LC backing plates. Rotary extenders. And some some high grit sandpaper for finesse work.

I recommend the light after the last multistage we did. Did a test where I polished before jeweling and took the car out in the sun. Looked flawless in direct sunlight. Used the high temp mode on the light and it showed light marring on the soft GM paint that the sun wouldn't even show. Decent battery life (had to charge it once over the course of 3 days of work). Posted in a professional detailers FB group and an overwhelming people said they grab this light before they use their Scangrips. 100% recommend.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
So I went with Adam’s Graphene Ceramic because it has an enzyme in it that you can see with a black light so I can see that I did indeed cover the entire truck.

Attached is what I used in order to accomplish the entire truck including the glass and chrome was Graphened. I used Adam’s 1 year ceramic coating to try it out. They offer 2 others that can go up to 9 years of coverage.

So, my question is this: What is the difference between this or Scangrip and pretty much any other LED light? I don’t do a hell of a lot of polishing, so I don’t really have a lot a need for one. I do have access to a shitload of led lights of all shapes and sizes though.
The one you have is 500 lumen. I have this in my garage that is 1000 lumen, along with an assortment of other work lights and flashlights with higher lumens.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...mpact-Flood-Light-Tool-Only-2364-20/300157982

Just wondering where the difference is. Light is light. As long as it’s easy to carry and has the same or better lumen output, not sure why these specialized ones exist.

I'd be curious to see how it looks under black light.

    Also curious here.
