I wash then ironX then clay then wash

 

Crap, it may be 2 weeks before I can do that. The spring weather gods are playing havoc with keeping the ride shiny.

 

IronX is tough stuff use it properly and the results are fantastic. Don’t bother if the conditions are not right.

 

Oh man, I’m going to have to start reading all this stuff deep in an underground bunker. If my wife finds out I’m reading instructions on something she will think an alien has taken over my brain.

 

Our wives all think we are crazy. It’s ok we still like ya.

 

Ya.... my wife thinks I’m nuts. I’ll be out washing and waxing the trailer and toys.

Wife: You know they’re all going to just get dirty.

Yeah, you really need to wash afterwards. It will stain trim and glass if not cleaned off properly. I imagine it’s not good to let it sit on your paint too long.
As for the weather, I’d go ahead and do it anyway. That way even though it may be dirty again soon, the decon will already be done. Only issue is it will strip any sealant you have. If you have some Hydro2, you could apply that in ten minutes.
With iron x and a clay mitt, you can knock a Tundra out in an hour and a half or so.

 

This sounds like it is the way.

Car detailing purchases are borderline for mine. She likes a clean car, so I may get a side eye but have yet to receive a verbal disagreement. She also gets out and washes the vehicles, but she has more training to complete. It used to be that she would pick a sponge up off the ground and go back to washing. At least now she will rinse it off first, or grab another one. That took me getting on her a couple of times.

 

So.....my wife was on the phone last night with my oldest daughter. She told my wife she’d taken her Honda through an automatic car wash. She didn’t know I was sitting close enough to hear her say it. Possibly the biggest disappointment in my 24 years of parenting.

 

The heartbreak must be real. I hope I never have to go through this as a parent.

 

Would have been worse if it had been one of the trucks. My wife did make up for it some. My daughter said she did it because it had bugs all over it that she couldn’t get off. My wife told her “just use bounce sheets and detail spray”.

She lives five hours away now, so I can’t do it for her. She lives in an apartment complex, so can’t really do it there, and her going to a self serve car wash by herself isn’t very safe.
She’ll be here in a couple of weeks so we’ll see if it did any damage. Hoping one time wasn’t enough to screw it up.
It’s Honda’s version of MGM, so at least it isn’t black. I told her from now on to find a detailing company that does hand washes.

 

That's tough. Very painful to hear that. Hope the paint is okay.

Wasn’t shipping the bottle failed on the shelf. CarPro already told me if autogeek was not helpful they will take care of it.

Carpro is BOSS! Not only great products but great service. That is great news for you.

If you haven't done so already, I would let Autogeek know that you are letting other detailers know about their customer service and let them know as a detailing company you will no longer do business with them. Its a "Karen" move but they'll have you talking to management in no time.

Eray P1 paint thickness gauge. Came with two zeroing plates (iron and aluminum) as well as 5 separate thickness sheets to help zero the tool and gauge accuracy. It's not bad but still learning how to use it. The manual is in broken English, as well as some of the menu options. Second pic is a pretty well rounded average of the truck's paint (8 samples taken after zeroed out). Welcome to thin Toyota paint lol (average factory paint is 4 to 6 mils in today's day and age).

 

Thinner than what I would have guessed.

 

The hood ran 5.3 to 5.5 roughly. Everything else was low 4s.
