Saw this at Walmart and grabbed some. Put some on the hood and fenders of the Sequoia just to test it out. Went on really well, smells great, left a good bit of gloss. Feels a little like Beadmaker. The red Tundra is in serious need of some TLC so I’ll do the whole truck with it to see how it holds up.

Took a week exactly but finally showed. Anyone else try out DP stuff? Some of this came in a bundle. Was originally just looking to buy a clay mitt.

DP is one of the Autogeek house brands. I'm sure that the products will work well for you. You will really like those wash mitts.

I didn't realize it was their brand. Good to know. I believe I now have more wash mitts than winter gloves!

Most iron removers are smelly. Iron-X, considered by many to be the best out there, also stinks like skunk spray. They have a lemon-scented version, which smells like a skunk drank some lemon juice, and then sprayed

Not just for wheels. Iron-X (or similar product) is most commonly used as part of the decontamination stage of detailing. It's called the 'chemical decon' stage. You end up with all kinds of fallout on your vehicle just by driving it. If it's new, and was transported by rail, rail dust is very common. The more heavy duty wheel cleaners actually have the same skink spray smell that Iron-X does.....usually not as strong. You spray it on, it will react with whatever iron it finds, turn purple, and then you rinse it off. Heres a YouTube video that shows it very well:

Interesting. He mentions not agitating it while removing. Would you just wash as normal after that? Hit it with a foam canon and pressure wash it off, or what would be the best method.

I'm surprised I've never heard of this...

I've never had a car that bad, thankfully. I've seen some guys just rinse with a pressure washer......I like to hit it with some foam to rinse it. Here's a link to a post on the Autogeek forum that shows one option of the process:

Good stuff here. Depending on what the weather does in HTown tomorrow, I may hit it (White Tundra) with Iron X, then with the new to me foam canon. I need the practice. I’m loving the big ol Griot towel, it’s the beast when it comes to drying. My wife’s friend may want to get one to dry her big dogs.

    Follow up from my haul.

Rimjob looks promising but application is a bit of a pain; it dries up and leaves a powdery film. It leaves a very slick finish when you wipe it off. Smells good and it is easy to apply and but removing it tends to clog up in wheel features. When it dries up it takes extra work to get it out of these small features. We'll see how well brake dust stays off and how durable the protection is.

Auto-fanatic Foaming wheel cleaner is a dud for me. Smells like roach spray. Seems to be formulated for tire cleaning not so optimal for brake dust (I used their 8 oz per gallon concentration for medium jobs). Dries up quickly too where you basically have to do one wheel at a time. P & S Brake buster performed better. I think there are better wheel cleaners price per volume. Instead of foaming it I may use it as an additive in my wheel cleaning bucket instead.

Plasmacoat was interesting. Super easy to apply (it is like a lotion). Beading is on par with some of the other products but the beads don't roll off horizontal panels as easily as lets say Beadmaker. As far as looking like "warm and wet" Carnuba effect hard to tell on a white truck but it is definitely glossy. The wife asked what I did to the car. I'll have to see next sunny day we have how wet and warm it looks. I'll probably have to apply it on my other vehicle to really tell if it adds warmth and wetness it claims. Durability is unknown at this point.

Pearl is working out but it will probably get bumped by CarPro Lift as a prewash. It is less concentrated than Reset; uses 1 oz per gallon vice the 1oz per 5 gallons of Reset. For the same volume Reset is twice the price but five time as concentrated.

I haven't tried the microsuede products nor the Iron buster yet.

When I was using Pearl, I used it more out of a foam cannon than in a bucket. I never really thought of it as a pre-wash soap. I think I ended up using 2oz for 5 gallons

Yes it isn't necessarily designed for it, I was hoping it had outstanding cleaning power for what it is. Foams up nicely too.

Anybody else notice lead times on detailing products are taking longer to get? Guess they’re getting hit the same way every other industry is. My local stores are out of Griots Black Satin. It’s not on Amazon at the moment, and Griots’ site has it shipping late April.
I was down to my last can, and when I went to use it the sprayer was broken off. :angrygirl:

Starting a coating today and needed to refill some bottles. Ran into an issue my 4L of ironx is leaking everywhere hopefully autogeek handles the issue. This stuff is expensive and smells like hell. 7E81D942-FA14-4DA7-8ABD-B979B75322FA.jpgA0191827-D905-47FF-90A4-94C7BE724567.jpg

Autofanatic Foaming Wheel cleaners is a hard no. On my third wash and I about to throw some wash media away, the smell lingers. It could be I'm sensitive to it but now everything smells like roach spray.

The Plasmacoat cured and it definitely pops and is glossy but the rain left water spots everywhere, something I don't see much of with other products. It may have to be used in a two day coating process where it is topped with something else after it is cured. Looks great but the water spot issue is disappointing. Will give it another go on a second vehicle.

Would it be unwise to use it when you are not going to do a thorough wash afterwards (like the day before a rain?)
