2018 GMC Sierra. 3D aca510/520 (2 dots each) on blue HDO. Single step

 

Busy weekend with a couple of one step corrections. Corrected and coated the Audi. Jag was corrected and a 1 year sealant applied.

Jag got 3D One and Uro Fiber 50/50 pads after some gnarly overspray removal from 80% of the vehicle (body shops suck a fat one). Audi got 3D ACA510/520 half split and Lake Country low lint lambswool. Heavy defects and hard ass paint....the lambswool corrected great and finished out to my liking given only wanting a one step.

 

currently at the detailers getting a ceramic coat. Here she is after paint correction and the first coat. Super glossy!

 

what coating are they installing?

 

they used WaxedShine. It has healing properties when heat is applied. pretty neat

Crazy what a ton a small scratches will do to the color. I have a black w/metallic flake test hood off a Chrysler van. After just some 3d one or griots fast correction and a uro-fiber the done and undone areas don't even look the same color.

Same 510/520 split one step?

 

Yessir. Some spot wet sanding on the hood to take care of bird poop etchings. That was Angelwax Resurrection, LC low lint wool, Dewalt rotary followed by Angelwax Redemption, orange HDO, flex DA. 4.5mil average paint depth and super hard so just enough to work with for some 2500 then 3k grit.

Gave the Griot's a shot on the wife's grocery getter. Wash, decon, clay, polish, and Griot's. Did a 2nd coat this afternoon. They're right....it doesn't take much and this stuff goes far! Did 2 coats on her including windows and still got basically a full bottle left. The ceramic coating (Avalon King Armour Shield IX) lasted me about 2 years with a few bead maker toppers thrown in throughout the years as a drying aid. The griots is pretty slick. Test will be down the road. Last shot is of the hood. White don't reflect near as well as others.

 

For the price, availability and ease of application....this is one product that stands out in this category. Did you find the finish slick to the touch? That was the only 'box' that 3 in 1 did not check for me

 

I'll feel for it today. I was letting it "cure" and set before touching it. I did find that during wipedown (the "leveling" stage?), that I didn't feel that super slick finish that I typically have with coatings, bead maker, or even some other waxes I've used. I felt more slick, but not near what I've got and had with other products. I'll let you know later this afternoon though.

I went out and felt it. Had a slickness to it, but not what I've had in the past from other products. I'll see how I like this for its uses. If it works similar to the reviews stated in another thread reviewing it, I should be happy with it. A friend of ours just got a rav4, and I thought about using this on it, or even trying out the Turtle Wax seal n shine or the quick wax they got. They don't wash their vehicles as much as I do, and want to get them something easy to do. I may get the Griot's for them, I just worry about the first application. Using it as a drying aid should be easy enough according to its instructions.

 

In my experience, Griots 3 in 1 is the best OTC product out there. You'll be happy with it. I had it last 7 months on the roof of my Tundra with zero maintenance....jsut washes. Stick with this for your friends RAV4....they will not be disappointed, especially with winter coming on us so fast. A brief tutorial will get them through that first application. They will thank you for it
