Practicing my wetsanding on severe defects on one of the hardest doors you could think...OEM black Honda paint. Not pictured is the upper door that I royally fucked attempting to dry sand lol. Never tried dry sanding before...it is intense. It's a donor door so no harm no foul. Last photo shows the middle portion that was just as bad as the bottom.

I need to go to the local yard and pick up some panels to practice on. I've done a little wet sanding in my day, but not for many many years.

@Fotnot I washed, clay barred, Adam’s water spot remover(seriously magical) then used Adam’s Polishes one step polish w/ one step pad. I experimented with the Adam’s Ceramic Spray coating on my tundra and the results were phenomenal, so I used it on the X7 as well. Just need a microfiber applicator and crosshatch the spray coating over the entire vehicle. Just have maintain with a ceramic boost every 4th wash or I use their Graphene detail spray when drying the vehicle off after every other wash.

This was Uro 50/50s and 3D One. I've been messing around with a different application process that has been helping me circumvent the oily wipedown. Instead of blotting onto my pad, I've been putting dabs on the panels down the entire length of the car (as if I were doing rotary work), and spreading it as usual on low speed and working on full panel at a time. Blow out my pad, move to the next panel. Once I'm done the entire half of the vehicle, I go back to wipe where I began and it is significantly easier/less messy to wipe by the time I've made it back to panel #1.

If I were to do anything else, it would be a mixture of Angelwax Regenerate (medium cut) and Redemption (fine polish) 2 dabs of each on a pad. I haven't found anything that's cuts and finishes as well/quickly as that combo in the way of a one step. Toss some of their heavy cut in there and it still finishes out amazing with a bit more initial bite. Angelwax is just super expensive so in the name of saving $$$ with the business overhead, I've continued with 3D One and altered my procedure.

Hah this dude is a retired coworker and has more money than he knows what to do with. The toy hauler next to it has 100k worth of ATVs in it and the garage has a Lambo and white X5. We are coating both these vehicles sometime this winter when he can find some free time.

Fun fact: this '19 Taco's color code looks black but after polishing her up, you can see a ton of dark dark dark blue metallic flake. Pretty nifty. Owner didn't even know it had those until we dropped it off to him last night and he had a first look since the work.

    One stepped and UD Pro.

Work cut out for us tomorrow. Only a one step going on with a coating, however a shit body shop repainted and sanded/buffed this panel. The scaling on the bottom portion is velcro hook and loop where whatever they were using wasn't the correct size so the backing plate was just going to town on the freshly painted panel. The rest of the haze is from a rotary on too high of a speed and an aggressive pad (intense holograms and swirling).

Second photo shows what the rest of the car looks like (looks better than the repainted part lol). People suck...

Finished product and some test spotting/before afters. Ended up using Uro 50/50s and 3D One on the Flex long throw DA (the forced rotation Flex left micromarring with the same combo and Angelwax was too aggressive for this soft paint and left micromarring as well). One step on this 2011 Lexus with 101k miles and coated in Undrdog Pro. I'd estimate a 70% correction after everything was said and done for this one stage.

That is an incredible remake of that car! It’s guys like you that really want me to hone my craft. To be able to transform that POS looking car to what you did should make the customer very happy. Tip ‘O the Hat, Sir.

I appreciate the kind words. I've come a long way since my beginning and still have even farther to go. Just try to learn every chance I get and better myself with every job. He's a neighbor from a couple blocks over and stopped halfway through and asked if we had repainted it lol. Then said he's happy he decided to coat it..until I told him it wasn't even coated yet and his jaw dropped. Elderly couple who's retired and want to keep the car for a few more years so they're happy!

I'll take a pic if you don't believe me...but that repainted panel had up to 43 mils of paint on it in spots. Not a typo. Forty-three mils. Ranged from 11 to 43. Was all over the place. Then the shotty rotary job....we took care of that though.
