2019 Lexus RC500. Owner is selling it in a month to get a 2021 RC500 convertible. He's the CEO/Founder of a huge lobbying firm in Maryland government so he's got disgusting money to throw at cars lol.

 

Also just because I thought it was cool...kinda reflectiony.

Ribbed tubs like this are a paint in the ass to decon/degrease. Had to use a combination of Sonax, Griot's, Meg's Wheel Brightener (acid), and Meg's Nonacid cleaner. Took about 20 minutes per wheel.

 

Why is it that people that have a ton of $ and nice cars, don't keep their cars clean? Sure, pay someone else to do it if you have the coin, but get it done regularly. I see high end cars ($100k+) all the time in RVA and they always look like they have not been washed since the original detail at the dealer. I don't get it.

I see both sides of the extreme. I either detail rich folks' cars that are super clean and I'm like "why am I here?" or I see folks like the above photos that haven't cleaned their wheels since they put mile 1 on it and now has 30k miles lol.

Thank you! The car was mehhh, until he said I could take it around the neighborhood to knock the brake dust off the rotors that always accumulates from wheel cleaners. I didn't get into it obviously because it's a clients car....but that thing has some power to it.

It's dirty as ever. Been a month since I've touched it and I still need to chop the bed fins. It'll look better once the 5.29s and Grip Pro LSD are in it (not sure how it'll look better just talking out my ass, I'm just pumped to get the swap done lol).

 

What's the best way to tackle the inner wheel? Angled woolie brushes or turning the wheels to reach behind them? Can't ever seen to be able to get behind the spokes all that great.

 

Speed master wheel brush. Theyre pricey but very worth it. Ive gone through one set this season but I detail 3-7 cars per week. Autogeek has a set (1 large, 1 small) for around $50. Also get a pack of 0000 steel wool.

Then I have to carry 4 different types of wheel cleaners since some respond well, some don't, some wheels are coated, some are plated, etc.

Those RC500s could have used a true polish but that requires a wheel off procedure and I'm not in the business of doing work for free lol.

 

They're very flexible, and make getting behind the wheel spokes a breeze. When you back them out from behind the wheel, go slowly. The bristles have a tendency to fling stuff around if you don't......don't ask me how I know. Also, keep an eye out for the little rubber tip on the end. I had one come off (think it was a knock off...not a real SpeedMaster).....and it will do some damage if the end is exposed....again, don't ask me how I know.

 

One reason I choose the Tundra in Quicksand: It still shines even though it's dusty or dirty.
Can't tell if it's dirty or not. It's been a month since I washed it.

Looking good......I wasn't a fan of the Quicksand and Cement Tundras when they first came out....but the more I see them, the more I like them

 

Yup. I looked into the offbrand ones to cut costs.... too many "rubber tip came off scratched my wheel" reviews. The worst was a 2019 Corvette Z06 OEM wheel picture..looked like a cat used it as a scratching post.

Their Wheel and Tire cleaner is very good, as is their shampoo, which got a good review on the Forensic detailing channel on YouTube.

 

What steps are those? I like that they don't hang down a lot.
