Living in the North, "Ohio" we are constantly washing our trucks, underside, engine compartment, ect. The "shit" they put on the roads for "deicer" called a "brine" will eat steel away in a matter of months, not years.

Definitely. I use GUNK foamy and shine. Just spray the foamy, rinse with a hose nozzle on the mist setting (cover what's appropriate) then use the shine.

I'm Leary about using too much water in an engine compartment since seeing how water got into electrical connections on my 1991 Nissan 300 twin turbo. Although Nissan has tight fitting connections with great rubber seals a mechanic showed me that once water gets past the gaskets it then can't get out. The moisture slowly corrode the small pins causing electrical gremlins.

So now I use the same car wash that is used on the outside paint finish. I apply the soapy water solution using an angled paint brush because using it gets in all the nooks and crannies. No rinsing and I control where and how much soapy water to apply. Dob as you go using a micro fiber towel.

It leaves the rubber hoses/ plastic/ painted area looking highly detailed and takes about 15 minutes.

@rons23 and I did his engine bay recently but I didn't get any before or after pics. It is easy and yields good results!

I figured as much. I drift in and out of that thread and others as well to see everyone's build, love of their truck color and the fun smack talk.

[IMG] Seriously my local self car wash has an engine wash/spray setting that I use from time to time and works quite well. I can ask the owner what the "engine wash" chemical he is using. Doesn't help you much now though.

So is there anything in your engine that you should cover when using these products and spraying it out?
