My "guess" is that 2021 will be a NEW model. It should be out in 2020 (say April/May or as late as August/September). There should be plenty of leaked and/or spy photos prior to the release date. There will also be gobs of reporter test drives to read. I agree with others, wait until at least the second year of a new model introduction. New technology requires consumer beta testing to work out issues. Having said all of that, I love the 2018 model. So, if the early reports aren't that great or if the new Tundra is a turbo-hybrid-four cylinder with a CVT transmission, save a ton of money and heartache...get the current model and take the large rebate Toyota will have to close out the current generation.

    I know 3 people with Tahoe’s.
1, brand new - 3,000 miles. No problems.
1, pretty old - 2007 or so and 200K miles, he hasn’t owned it but a year or so - no issues so far.
    1, 2013 - 65K miles and transmission just took a dump.
    No thank you.

I was in the same boat.... I was ready to upgrade my 06 taco to a 13' tundra.
    1. 2012 oooh wait for the new Gen-3 design.
    2. 2014 wife/realtor/lender reiterate I can't buy a truck when we are trying to buy a house (San Diego home prices :der:)
    3. 2015 :crapstorm:finally find a house but realize needs new water heater, wash+dryer, change carpets to hard wood floors... wife's lease is up... so she needs a new 2016 Tahoe
    4. 2016 lets go solar, pay daughter's 1st year college room & board... daily commuter bike (05' GSXR 750) takes a dump and needs a new motor, tires, brakes... :frusty:
    5. 2017 sell commute bike, sell dirt bike-atv-12' trailer combo, crushed a smoking deal too good to pass up and traded a pristine taco for a tunny.
In short, if you want it... just get it! or end up like me waiting 5-yrs!!!:annoyed:

I was in this boat a month ago , had a f250 was waiting for info on the 2020 tundra since ive had 3 of the current model tundra's..I found a cement colored crewmax and got a good deal on it. The thing is with tundra they hold there value very well so I thought I cant go wrong if 2020 is something new and great ill trade and make that my keeper for a long time if not im very happy with the 18 I got and now that ive had it a month the new tundra is going to have to be really really good for me to trade or sell and get one. Coming from that ford just relieved & happy getting back in a tundra .
    Good luck with your choice!

I had a 2000 Tahoe before the 2017 tundra. 265,000 plus miles and only had to put a transmission in it at 150,000ish miles. Was happy with it and now SIL uses it for a back and forth to work vehicle. Since I have moved to Toyota will never look back. Price of the other three along with the dependability issues ( largely) will never allow me to go back. When a new style tundra comes out that I like, I will buy it and keep the one I have for the wifey or let my daughter have it. Going to take to long for it to finally wear out to need replacing.

I have a feeling the 2020 or 2021 will be totally new. Just check out the 2019 Rav4. A lot of new tech. Def waiting and will try and get one of the first new body style Tundra's

I am still on the fence but probably will wait until the 2020 as well. my 2015 Tahoe is more advanced than a 4 year newer 2019 Limited Tundra?

Seems like always a good idea to wait, and maybe for the first time in my life I will make a good vehicle decision at the right time!

Riding out this Audi lease, and saving some money, and then will go all in again on a Tundra. Except this time It'll be fully loaded, and hopefully I'll only have to put half of what I put in to my 17 Tundra.

My guess is it's going to be at least 2021 before the new one is out. If it were coming out in 2020, they would probably be showing them off in February of next year so in about 3 months at the auto shows. I don't think the truck has even been fully designed yet. I am still getting surveys every couple of months from Toyota asking about how I use my truck, what things I would like to see in the next truck etc. If they are still asking that stuff, they aren't 3 months away from revealing a new truck.

That's my dilemma, but worse. I have a 2010 with 53k on it. It is used for all our vacations and towing the boat and snowmobiles. I can't see adding $25k plus my truck for a truck that is a lot the same. The 2019 is very nice and has some added features that are great. I just added a backup mirror/camera which was my only really critical need for backing up the truck to the trailers so that problem is solved. I just bought some Michelin XLTs that were a 2016 pull off with 15kmi for $270 and put them on some OEM Texas alloy rims for $100 for my winter wheels. I'd love some of the safety systems on the newer Tundras, but I use my phone GPS (better and instant updates), and my 2010 had B/T so phone works fine for that. Plus, I love the sliding armrest and drivers side grab handle. Just had to replace the OEM battery, so looks like at least 3 more years and I'll be looking at the second year new Tundra 2022 if it actually comes out in 2021. No dis on new Tundra owners, they are awesome, just hard to justify a new one yet when the 2010 is so nice.

This is what you can be stuck with when they last so long..........

If you hurry up and go now to get a new tundra, you may get it for 0% finance. I got my new tundra last month for that deal. I was only looking at the time but when I found out I qualified it was a no brainer for me.

yea but you can't combine the $1,500 rebate on the 2019 with the 0%. At least they would'nt let me.

Me too. I'd been thinking I would wait for a new Tundra design, but I drove a 2019 Tacoma to see if I could make a Tacoma work. I was replacing a 2005 taco. After driving the 3rd gen taco, I immediately started the process of buying a 2019 Tundra.

I got a great OTD price and 0%. There wasn't a rebate on 2019s in NC

Who cares if you're getting 0%. You'd pay more in interest on the overall loan than $1500

I just wish the next tundra they overbuild it like how Toyota says they’ve done with the land cruisers. Theyve overbuilt the LC to last 25 years or more, that would probably raise the price for the tundra but now I want a LC as a toy when the tundra is paid off.

You probably have Lights in the Door Bottoms, Amber Flashers and Dual Zone AC/Heat too, all of which have been deleted by the Geniuses at Toyota over the years. I can't wait to see what standard equipment features get dropped for 2020!

I bought a 2018 this summer figuring the new tundra would be coming out in 2021. I won't buy the new model untilmits been out for a few years. Let them work out the issues and make improvements.
