Check out craigslist in your area. Kbb is usually off for special interest vehicles. For some reason the tacomas judt hold value better. I wouldnt be suprised if you got closer to 20k private party

The only issue I see is the tundra might get you in trouble. The faster you drive it the better it feels. 85-90 is like cruising speed.

After owning a 2003 and 2011 Tacoma, I enjoyed them both. Miss them some days because the are swift to park. Would not however dream of going back now that I’ve been living with the interior space of my crewmax, iForce power and how nimble the truck is for weighing 5,500 pounds. It drives so much smoother than the Tacoma’s ever did. Hope this helps.

If you can afford it, keep the taco and get the tundra. I have a 14 taco 4 cylinder 5 speed that I drive only for work. This truck is cheap to maintain in comparison to the tundra, tires are only 450 a set, the brakes cost half as much, and you are replacing half the amount of oil, every oil change.
Don't get me wrong I love my tundra, that's why I only drive it on weekends. And because I put the 125k work miles on the taco, my tundra only has 62k on it.
Sounds like you would be the opposite though if you need to tow for work. How much would you be towing?

If you are unable to keep both, then I think you will be happier with the Tundra. I just came from a 2018 Tacoma.

Sell it privately and you'll get more...it's worth the trouble. Put it on CarGurus, Craigslist, and Facebook.

I switched to the Tundra a few years back after having several Tocos no comparison Tundras are way better for all the reasons already mentioned fuel mileage wasn’t much different but I didn’t buy a Prius not knocking the Toco never had any issues and loved them all I also agree with the others on resale you will get more on selling it yourself and it will sell fast if it’s in good shape you will get more than book

I had a 2014 taco and it was great. But I never fell in love with it. Got a 2018 Tundra and it's the bomb. Super glad I traded up.

I have 2015 Tundra that I bought new. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Gained about 1mpg by adding a cover on the bed and replaced the stock 26 gal tank with a 46 gal. Great road warrior!

The tundra tows great. if you notice any float to the steering while towing, a weight distribution hitch will correct it

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to sell the Tacoma private and get the Tundra. Seems like I can get more cash from a private sell. Now I just need to get my taco detailed for the sell pics.
