I've been doing shift work for about three years now. We had a change in management one year ago and we are having issues with time off requests. Requests were handled differently then and worked great. The shifts we work are 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM with 4 workers. So basically if I want 2 day or night shifts off another co-worker has to cover my shift. That's not the problem, the problem is how we communicate the shift coverage. Right now we have a calendar and we write the day we want off and if somebody wants the shift they put their name on it. Sounds simple but we work in two different area's and the calendar is in one area and nobody is using this system. So I'm hoping someone knows a program or a phone app that would help. Nothing mind blowing, just a way to send a request for time off and a way for a co-worker to basically say "Ill cover that shift for ya". Currently we use Slack to communicate throughout the day.

    Thanks in advance!

    No relief crew?

Screw that. Your robbing Peter to pay Paul.

If you take two weeks vacation per year and have to cover two weeks of vacation, you never really get a vacation. Only benifit is to get the time off that you want.

Working like that, shift work will wear you out. I’ve been doing shift work since 93’. I’ve worked a “few” schedules to say the least.

We do all vacation via vacation requests (paper, has approval or denied hard copy returned) and the supervisor sets up the coverage.

My group of 4 have the same schedule as the OP.

We use this one. We send screen shots to each other using this app.Screenshot_20180613-230221.jpg

No relief crew unfortunately. Managers are thinking about adding a relief person but a few workers are pushing back because it'll take their cut of overtime.

    I'm already burned out.

New manager wants an app for scheduling time off. Less work for her.

I would not like that schedule.
Put the two overtime hounds on opposite shifts and give them all of it. Their wives boyfriends will enjoy all the stuff they bought.

Hotter than a hoochie coochie!! My boy Alan Jackson knows his thermometer well!!

I’ve decided I don’t like real jobs with real bosses so I started my own business pressure washing, painting, and building shit until I get ready to get up at normal hours :D

Do you guys use Outlook for email? You could just setup a shared calendar.
