    @Vizsla @Spolar

sorry if you guys know this already, but make sure you thaw it properly so its not frozen when we fry it LOL otherwise it will be an exciting night. Also, you dont want it thawed for too long or the whole group will be pooping funny the next morning

Emma and I should be arriving Friday afternoon/ evening and leaving Sunday after coffee and chit chat

For the Potluck - I'm going to fuck us up on some mashed potatoes and some sort of vegetable. Also, if I remember correctly breakfast the next morning wasn't really necessary after the damage we did on those turkeys, ham, etc, just a thought.

I have some turkey frying experience, generally based on doing it wrong...
Huh, live and learn. Already thought I had mastered how to blow up a turkey in a fryer, and now this scenario that I did not previously duplicate.:notsure:

I’ll bring some stuffing. Probably going to have to make it there so it doesn’t get soggy. And I’m a terrible cook so don’t get mad if I fuck it up.

Anybody know about drone use? Looks banned, but can ask permission from park superintendent? I’m good with getting FAA/airport permission if needed, but park permission is new to me. Waste of time?

Yes I get that, maybe I asked the wrong way. There appears to be a provision to allow some drone use in the park by asking the superintendent, and think I have the proper credentials to do that. Just wondered if anyone has gotten said approval, probably unlikely.

A close friend of mine is a helo pilot and has drone license and he’s tried and got turned down every time... worth a shot right? I’d say no harm in asking.

Maybe you didn't eat breakfast but I know I did! First post updated

Good. Two brains are better than one for this LOL I have some tips from @n2deep:

    https://youtu.be/Q_Iidd92wxc

right on homie! I got you down. Don't worry about the stuffing, I did that one year. I brought two boxes and used a big ass pot. It was super easy and came out great.

Some of the area we'll be in will be BLM land so go ahead and bring the drone! I have a land use map so we'll know exactly where we're at. Thu and Fri is pretty much all BLM land

As for asking permission, don't. I prefer not to let the rangers know we'll be out there. Its our business, not theirs. I won't post our routes and campsites online either. I'm not paranoid, I just value my privacy

haha! Ice cream and cranberry sauce was dope AF!

Whatever you think a proper Friendsgiving meal needs! Here are some suggestions:

    • Sausage-Stuffed Potato Galette.
    • Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake with a Brownie Crust.
    • Truffled Cheese Mash
    • Roasted Brussels Sprouts with a Bacon, Mustard and Walnut Vinaigrette
    • Sweet Potato Gratin with Pancetta, Parmesan and Sage
    • Three Cheese Cauliflower Gratin
    • Farro with Chipotle Glazed Acorn Squash, Kale and Toasted Pepitas
    • Kabocha Squash Quinoa Bake with Pancetta
    • Cornbread, Bacon, Leek, and Pecan Stuffing
    • Broccoli Rabe with Garlic and Almonds
    • Cherry-Pecan Cornbread Dressing
    • Harvest Mousse with Spiced Almond Tuiles
    • Quince Tarte Tatin
    • Buttermilk Cake with Riesling-Poached Pears
    • Vanilla Ice Cream Bread Pudding with Whiskey Caramel

    We are three weeks out

Make sure your rig is prepped! Check all the usual stuff, common bolts, belt, filters, etc

Make sure your camping gear is in order! It can get very cold, we've had some nights that were way below freezing. We won't have any services at the camp sites. You guys are welcome to use my hot shower, but you have to bring your own water. Its normally about 2 ga per shower depending on your shower activities

Make sure you have at least one full size spare! Two would be better. There are always blown tires on this trip. Dual flats are common, but even one flat means you have to finish the trip with no spares unless you can carry two. Make sure you have the right tools to change a tire; jack and lug wrench. You would be surprised how many times I've had to grab tools for someone because they didn't have what they needed to change a tire. You would also be surprised how many times someone in our group didn't even have a spare...

Make sure you carry common spare parts! Fuses, fluids, a belt, etc.

Plan on carrying some firewood! Nights will be cold and there is no firewood in the park.

You will need spare fuel! I haven't worked on the routes yet, but 150 miles between fuel stops can happen in death valley.

The wheeling on this trip won't be super technical. But the sheer remoteness and long desert routes means that this trip is no joke. But that makes it my favorite trip every year
