You're both in! Glad you can make it! This trip is getting a little big, but I suspect some guys will canx. I'm going to do hard planning about two weeks out.

When can you guys show up and when will you depart? Are you both 4wd?

I don't think it'll be that bad. I think the current plan is to start in Lucerne Valley on Thu afternoon. But I can always switch that to starting on the east side of mojave and running the mojave rd to the west. I'm not going to portland this year and I have the whole week off so I basically have no plans mon-wed and I can probably bring you home.

If you can't go thats cool, send that golfer chick instead

Lisa and I are in almost 100%. We’ll be driving in from Ohio, just don’t know what day yet.

Where are you located? We just moved to Columbus and want to connect with folks out here for some wheeling of whatever kind we can get into.

Lol I’m on the east coast of the country, in Florida! It may be difficult for us to find a mutually agreeable site to go get the Tundras dirty.

I’ve been meaning to reach out, I’m originally from NW PA, few miles from the OH border(Negley OH). I don’t make it back there often, but intend to over Xmas, and will investigate my old wheeling haunts. It’s tough in that region, most anything cool has been ruined and closed, but there are some gems left. Hope you like going slow, stinky mud, and sketchy hill climbs. If you are around we can do shenanigans.

Truck isn't trail worthy at the moment. I will probably just do a backpacking trip cause it will be a pita to coordinate a meeting spot and a place to ditch the truck somewhere safe for a few days.

Alex, I'll be heading up on Thursday and leaving Monday. I can bring a bird or oil, let me know what you need. I've never used a turkey fryer, so I'm no help there.

We'll need oil. Depending on cost, I may have you split it with someone else

Gentleman. We need to figure out a turkey fryer. I don't think putting a bird on a spit is the best way to cook it. Is anybody willing to invest in a fryer? I saw one on Amazon for $30. But you also need a thermometer and propane tank/burner.

I will talk with Craig and figure out how to actually fry it. I would buy one myself, but I don't have any way to carry it

3 1/2 min a pound @350 Key is don't just drop the bird in the oil - lower it so it doesn't boil over and catch fire with the flame. Just enjoy oil to cover the bird, also don't fry if its still frozen. On the trail I don't inject it just because it can be a mess and coat it with cajun seasoning - the more the better. If the temp dips below 350 you may have to cook it a bit longer - it will tend to float when done unless its it stuck to the bottom or the rack.

As of right now this trip is capped! The guys in the tentative group can still come

If we get some cancellations then some spots will open up

FYI, the planned routes for Thu and Fri will be very long difficult desert terrain. You will need two spare tires and tools to change them. And it would help if you carry spare fluids and misc parts like serpentine belt

The rest of the trip will be regular Death Valley trails

I'll buy the pot, someone else needs to get a bird. @Spolar The pot I'm getting says up to 18 lbs bird. So if we do like 12-15 lbs birds that should be good.

@Stewie peanut oil is expensive so I have someone split with you
