From the dunes to the springs. If that makes sense.

    Ok. No it Makes sense.
I’m trying to map springs to dunes. I gave up bc steel pass looks like it just disappears as it gets closer to the dunes after dedeckera.

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that looked at that trail map and thought, “Are they gonna be in DV for 5 days or are they even faster than us?”

I can give you our tracks for that section if it helps. Even if just a screenshot.

Right?! But, as fast as we drive the trails, we lollygag a fair bit when we’re not moving. Maybe not a ton, but some.

Bottom waypoint is where we camped nearish the springs, middle waypoint is the pass, top is the dunes.

Picking a road going up the wash will be a pain in the ass because they always change with the rain and use.

That’s what I thought. On all the maps I looked at it was all washed out. At least nothing distinctive. Thanks. This is pretty much what I had as well just scattered through the wash.

    There’s a real need for a “SGUv2”
    Slow Glampers....
Am I the only one that likes to go slow?
I enjoy looking at tracks in the dust and mud, catching deer and critters standing in the brush, spotting porcupines and unusual birds in the trees and when stopped, identifying weeds and flowers.
It’s hard to do this when racing across the landscape.
    Guess that’s why I’m gosolo...
I might change that to goslo, lol

Right! lol. only problem is i only check in every couple of days and a thousand posts have been made since.

lmfao, so alex and i were running the first two spots with craig a bit behind. alex and i were just chillin waiting for the group to show up when craig comes up and asks, hey hows your truck running since you revalved your shocks. i said amazing i was hitting that trail at 85 catching air, yada yada.

then he pulls out from behind him my bypass... i literally was dumbfounded... wtf?!? is that mine?? lmfao... that shit was hilarious.

there was once a guy we wheeled with, his name was Robert and he also liked to go slow and took forever to break camp.... fond memories...

Don't listen to these guys. We have slow trucks with us all the time. Some guys drive fast, some slow. The faster guys wait at the turns for the slower guys. We always stay in radio contact and we always help each other with any problems

The "speed" in SGU refers to how much ground we cover when we explore. That said, if you want to do 10 mph like jeeps and take half hour breaks every half hour, then you should definitely start SGU v2, Slow Glampers Uberfahrt

One of the things I like about the Speed part of our trips is it allows us the time to sit and watch all the cool stuff around us when we stop. We don't just blast around all over the place 100% of the time. Going fast between places let's us maximize our time at the interesting destinations. I sat for 30 minutes and watched a thousand caterpillars crawl around in the sand in Anza Borrego during the Super Bloom last year while we were paused on the trail.

For some reason I never loaded the video to youtube, but it's uploading now. It was pretty cool. Not that the video really captures it, but there were millions and millions of caterpillars out there during the bloom.

    @KevinK
I’ve got plenty of respect and admiration for what y’all are doing. I spent a bit of time in the ‘70s going fast and occasionally airborne.
    I’m just bustin y’alls balls.
At my age and with all these broken parts everything I do is done slow, lol

Every trip, @spenny and I say at some point, “I feel like we’re really missing out on a lot by driving by it so fast.” A Slow Glampers Überfahrt May become a reality.

Anyone interested in wheeling with @n2deep and me April 5 - 8??? We're thinking either Joshua Tree and Mecca/Orocopia or somewhere in AZ. If we do AZ we're looking for someone familiar with the area.

I can't do Death Valley on Easter weekend with you Bastards, but please keep me in mind for the next trip!!!

Man I wish I could go. The last day trip in Anza, I broke my second battery mount. So now it’s being held down by ratchet straps. My compressor was mounted to the battery mount and now I have it off the truck.

I’d take the Land Cruiser but it’s going under the knife that weekend for a bunch of electrical installs. I’m trying to get the LC ready for T2S and see if I can sneak away.
