It’s really not that hard, you need a 14mm for wiper arms, a Phillips and maybe a flathead!

I'm still ticked about this. $40K+ truck can be brought down by a mouse.

I think it's good to do the screen fix but there are a lot of other wires in the engine bay that are vulnerable.

We are dealing with the exact same issue since the crazy Texas freeze week! Same truck except we do have a lift kit. We also had a small accident before the freeze, but had the recall done and the issue was supposedly fixed. I did find where the owners manual wants against power washing around the sensors as they are very fragile. Super frustrating and any help is appreciated!

We had a rodent eat the wiring harness in our ‘07 tundra, but this is different.

I keep rat poison around the exterior of the house near where I park. I make sure it’s where a cat or dog or squirrel can’t get into it. Just some insurance.

As soon as the 2018 Tundra Limited is back from the dealer, after it’s $12,000 harness rewiring bill, due to mouse damage (which progressive insurance paid for under animal caused vandalism), I will put the wire screen on the air intake and rodent poison around my driveway... and mothballs and peppermint spray under the hood and in the cab. Hope that will prevent recurrence.

$12000? Are they replacing every wire in the truck?

This sounds more like they don't have a clue what the problem actually is. So they're giving you and your insurance the BS rodent story while they replace everything and hope it's fixed.

Coincidentally, I just gutted my interior and replaced the radio components because of a mouse. Luckily, I caught it early. A screen over the vent intake is a must. In one day he was already making a nest in my cabin filter.

Numbers after the insurance company knocked off about $2,500... $9,493 + $2500
For parts and labor. Original quote was almost $15k.
They are replacing the body wiring harness” and a rear wiring harness. They aren’t replacing all the wires. Lol...

The insurance adjuster apparently saw the rodent damage in person... or, they wouldn’t have paid. Sorry to hear about your mouse problems too.

I'd do that job for $5000!
I'm not a mechanic and I hate electrical work, but I'd still get it done.

That original quote is like 1/4 the cost of the entire vehicle! I guess when they know they can screw over the insurance company and, by extension, the customer, they go ahead and write it up and go to work.

Its a self-licking ice cream cone. Let's make our harnesses out of rat food and sell it to the general public, then, when they come in for rodent damage, we'll charge them another 1/4 cost of the vehicle to replace the rat food with more wires made from the same rat food, then they'll be back in a few months for a repeat. Am I the only one that sees the lunacy in all this?

Ya know, the GL1800 Honda Gold Wings have their air filters buried deep in the bike, with intakes that look like frigging highways to the little furry pests with signs reading "Open House". Can't count how many pix I've seen of Gold Wing air filters with rodent droppings and nests in them. I did the mesh modification last spring, IIRC, securing the air intakes. Looks like I have to do it for this beast, too.

Update - 9 weeks without a functioning 2018 Tundra. The truck is torn apart at the dealer’s shop undergoing a $12K rewiring repair to replace a yummy mouse-chewed Soy-Based wire harness with another uneaten Soy-Based wire harness. See attached pictures. Wondering if I’ll get the truck back before the 3-month mark? Will it work this time, without multiple sensor errors lighting up the dashboard? Time will tell!
