Yes as long as you don’t go thru one of the heating element

Just installed these on my 2016. Great write up here, made it very easy. Added the switch up front and used the power from the consol. Took about 6 hours for the full job and turned out great.

I’m over a year with mine, maybe even 2, and zero issues. High setting is almost too hot.

Anyone done this recently? I am about to. Winter is coming here in Utah and while it may not be bad as other parts of the country a little heat is always nice.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I am going to tackle the wiring tonight. I had Katzkins installed and they added the seat heaters for me I just need to get them wired up. My biggest question before starting is will I still need to pull out my seats to do this, they setup the wires through the bottom of the seat so I will just need to wire it then plug in I think but wanted to see if I can do that by just taking apart the center area and not pulling the seats out totally.
Thanks so much for any advice or help!

Depends on how you want to run the wires but you shouldn’t have to pull the seats.

That would be very difficult to do with the seats in the truck. Not impossible, but not worth it in my opinion. You are going to have to unbolt them no matter what. Might as well set them out. There is a wiring harness and a module or relay setup (depends on brand) that have to be wired up under the seat bottom. It would be much easier to get to the center console also without the seats in the way. If you are using the type with the 2 round switches that most people use and put right behind the cupholders, then all you have to do is pull that top panel off (after you unscrew the gear shifter knob). You can tap right into the cigarette lighter wires that are right there too. That is switched power so it makes it a handy wire set to tap.

I attempted it on Friday last week and realized as soon as I got the center area disassembled that I am not skilled enough to do it with the seats attached.
I am going to take a wack at it again this Friday to try again. @Touch-Ups I actually think the kit I have is from you (I got a Katzkin kit and the heaters from you). Can I wire up both seats to that cig lighter spot between the center console and the gear shift or can I only do one at that location?

Finally got it all done, had a couple issues with me being stupid but otherwise went smooth. Was able to just unbolt the seats and push them back to run the wires without unplugging all the airbag/power below the seats.

Awesome, i appreciate the added insight, man! I did your placement, I am going to attempt this, doesn't look too bad. I imagine the seat breakdown, probably the worst of it lol I just hope it all goes back snug, to it's original form..ha

Hey all, so following this thread, I got my seat heaters installed on my 2021. Not that difficult just a pain in the a$$ when it comes to taking the seat apart and dealing with the hog rings. I did end up just using zip ties instead of hog rings lol. My question is, does anyone know how much these seat heaters draw?

I have a 2021 so my fuse panel is a little different (attached). I used an add a fuse and I have one of my seat heaters into my P/OUTLET NO.2 but My driver seat I went off the radio fuse as I was worried about the power draw being too much and the radio I noticed leaves the drivers seat on when the vehicle is off but the power outlet for the passenger seat works fine as in it shuts off when the truck shuts off. Do you think I could daisy chain them both off the power outlet no.2? Any help?

I tied mine into the cigarette lighters in the console. I tied each seat into each adapter, but ultimately the console harness breaks down into a single 16 gauge wire and a 10 amp fuse. Each seat was fused individually but if anything pops it will be the breaker to the console 12v chargers. I've had both on high for over an hour to test it and nothing pops. Maybe if you had multiple devices charging off both adapters and both seats on high it would pop the fuse, but the seats alone don't break 10 amps it seems.

curious to hear if you think it’s ok to use zip ties instead of hog rings? I saw one poster did that for the rings near the heating pad.

zip ties seem easier and it’s one less tool I need to buy. Thoughts?

*edit* I'm getting ready to pull all the seats and center console out for a few other things so I decided to order a set o f the Rostra 250-1870's linked here as well as the hognose pliers. Wish me luck!

I would think the thick clasp of the zip tie would not be flat enough under the seat fabric.
As well plastic zip ties getting heated up over time by the seat heaters might weaken them.
I know they don't do well in the sun for long periods of time.

The hog rings aren't that hard.
More work to take them off than to put them on.
Test closing a few with your pliers and get a little practice before putting the cover back on.
It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

If I can it, you can do it...:D
    Good luck..

That’s what I did. Didn’t feel like buying a tool I will never use again and zip ties were very easy to use.

I was up late last night installing the heaters and putting the seats back together. Honestly I can't believe you took them apart just to make a video. Legend. My fingers are scraped to hell and sore af.

Anyway, this morning I'm nervous. I didn't install the provided tape on the cut out pieces. I don't know why. It was late and I was obstinate. Regretting it big time now. It wouldn't have been hard at all. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I just break the seats down and put the tape on?

On the seat back I was able to get the hog rings tied in using the slots provided in the heating pad that aren't threaded with the heating element. On the seat bottom there was one bull bar (idk if that's the right name any more - the metal bar that hangs from the sling on the bottom of the seat covers) that I couldn't get to align with the provided slot in the heating pad where no heat element is threaded in. The instructions don't ever even call attention to this slot, and the diagrams even look like they're just cutting right through the heating element. Buuuut that's probably why they included tape.

    Sorry I don't have pictures.

Am I about to start a fire under my ass?

Brand was Besond. Still works 4 years later. I can’t find the exact same kit on Amazon but the biggest reason I went for it is because the switches fit in the factory blanks. You can still find a few on eBay like this and looks identical to what I installed.
