My Maytag washer is starting to stall on the spin cycle. It's barely 3 years old. I think it has a warranty, maybe time to call them and start asking questions. I still have my old GE machines that were sold with a house I was renting previously, got sued for them, but my wife had the receipts in a ziploc bag, with the serial number clearly readable for both machines. They still work well. They were 14 years old before I replaced them with the Maytag, the misses wanted something new for the house, so I designated them rag washer in the garage, washer sometime stops filling randomly.

I have a newer LG French door bottom freezer bought it in conjunction with the Maytag washers 3 years ago. So far so good there. Can't wait for the 8 year mark from what I'm reading. Still have my old GE fridge that was damaged from shipping, didn't notice until I took delivery at the house... Either way still works fine freezer leaks into the fridge, I had a tech come out to fix it 4 or 5 times under warranty it would just restart 6months after it was repaired. Did this until it ran out of warranty. I have a tupperware dish to catch the water that freezes in the back of the fridge. I use that for my grapes, dump it every week.

We have a Samsung side by side that’s 11 years old. No troubles (wood knocking sound) except for the icemaker. We’re on icemaker #3, but I can replace it in less than 15 minutes and a new one is ~$100.

We decided to buy a General Electric side by side fridge last night. There are some really neat details on fridges these days however we went with a very similar fridge to the 19 year old G.E. we are replacing. Thank you all for the input and shared experiences.

We bought ours during the pandemic and ended up having to buy our way out of the supply chain issues. That said, we absolutely love our Thermador appliances. The range is gorgeous, and the other appliances are all high end Bosch, including the bottom freezer, french door refrigerator. Model T36FT820NS/01 First, it has two compressors, so a failure only causes a loss on 1/2 of the unit until repaired. Second, IDK why, but produce lasts forever in the bins. The web enabled portion is not something we wanted, but I will admit is rather convenient, especially with kids and their inability to close doors completely.

Edit: Doh! Congrats OP, and hopefully the above is useful for anyone else who stumbles upon it.

I've come to learn, most new appliances, especially ones with all bells and whistles, suck. Compared to old appliances, not even a comparison. An old guy who came out once to fix our washing machine or dryer (probably 20 years ago), suggested for washer and dryer, buy the cheapest model. Less things to break, more space internally to replace worn out parts and cheaper to repair (and buy). He suggested this for all appliances.

For a fridge (for all you who have wives...), you're going to have to buy a nicer one. I highly recommend the extended warranty. We've replaced our "high end" LG and Samsung both within 6 years. We now have another Samsung, paid for by the warranty.
