If you’re doing heavy mechanical work welding etc I agree. An epoxy floor is more for the “clean” side of the barn/garage. In my dads farm barn we did a sealed commercial grade concrete on the “work” half (where tractors and implements are stored and worked on) then an epoxy floor on the “clean” heated side where the RV is stored and we hang out. The epoxy side is very easy to mop up and clean up. The farm side we don’t care what happens.

Hey, I just installed the same epoxy flooring in my garage. Wondering how yours is holding up after 5 or so months? I’m debating adding an epoxy clear coat on top for durability, but that’s gonna nearly double my investment into this project and not sure if it’s worth it.

I’ll be doing a epoxy coating this spring in my attached garage, working in the construction field I was just doing a 15 000 sq/ft warehouse and the owner did a polish and sealer.

Talking to the guys doing the floor they said the only way to do epoxy right is to use a 35 grit diamond disk first. Using a tool like this:

    Bosch CSG15 5-Inch Concrete Surfacing Grinder https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UVXYX6I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2v3XCbEK778VM

It has a port to attach a shop vac.

Yea, I’m familiar with the “right” way to do this, but when the wife says <$300, I do what I gotta do...it’s all about the prep for sure, I didn’t use the “kit”, just separated the steps so I could hopefully use the best products the box stores carry...it looks great, drying now, just sooooo nervous about my tundra sitting on it and a brick of a nissan patrol, too...I know I could clear coat the shit out of it, but that’s where my $250 project would jump to $600+ and the wifey ain’t okay with that and at that point I might as well of hired the job out...

Around here the housing market is on fire, I can buy the tool and materials for half the price of hiring someone to do it, I also want to stain my concrete basement floor. I'm selling mt house next spring and moving back east, so it will be a practice run for my next house and and increase the value on this one.
Also my floor is 17 years old.
