The screen on my 2018 Tundra Limited just started randomly rebooting tonight. I read that it could be related to Bluetooth. I disconnected and removed my device and the rebooting stopped. I reconnected my Bluetooth and it started again. So it seems it is related to the Bluetooth connection. Are there any recommendations on how to correct this? I appreciate it

Bring it to the dealer and have them do the latest software update. If that doesn’t work they will give you a new radio.

Both our 14 Tundra and 14 Highlander had same issue when new...both were flashed by dealer and they have been fine.

I don’t have a 14+ tundra but I read through a thread recently where someone was having the same issue and he took it to the apple store and one of the “Genius Bar” people got it to work. It’s a fairly recent thread so it shouldn’t be too hard to find...

My 2015 Tundra is having the same issue. How do I determine if an update is needed or if it would fix my issue?

Toyota has a TSB out for the Tundra that states only the dealer should be attempting to update these radios due to issues and mistakes customers are making trying to do it themselves. So let me say this again for the guys in the back who can't hear to well... If you are having rebooting issues on a tundra YOU NEED TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM UPDATE IT. If something goes wrong during the update process they will likely replace the radio for free.

Sure, if you don't follow the directions that are provided by Toyota, there's potential to hose something up. No different than any other DIY maintenance though. The update process is very simple, so long as you have a basic understanding of computers. If anyone isn't completely comfortable with the terminology used on the website, then I'd definitely side with you and say they should just take it to the dealership.

Thank you all for your help. I didn’t realize others were having the issue. I appreciate it.

Well if you look at the link you provided it says "no updates available" for the 2015 Toyota Tundra without NAV. This is because Toyota took down those update files so that customers cannot try to do it themselves.

Yet my buildout, 2018 with nav, has a software update available for download. You're making a pretty blanketed statement for a pretty targeted issue. I would still say that if there is an update available on Toyota's Entune support site, owners should feel comfortable doing that work without making a trip to the dealership. If owners are seeing the reboot issue, but no updates are available on the site, then a trip to the dealership is definitely warranted.

Bought my 14 Tundra 2 weeks ago and the door speakers were not working(only the dash tweeters) and the radio screen would randomly reboot as described. They ordered a new radio and it's been on backlog. Finally getting it installed today(after 2.5 weeks) and hoping that resolves my door speakers not working!

I updated software version on my 2017 head unit after one restart issue and it hasn't happened since. I followed the instructions on Toyota's website and used the file they provided. The only problem I had was first USB drive wasn't recognized by the truck. Second one was and updated just fine. I don't see why this can't be done at home.

None! I tow a boat weekly
I did the update and it lasted a few months so your mileage may vary. Love my truck but the HU has been a PITA. I’m going aftermarket since I want Apple car play.

Do this and never look back. I bought mine knowing this would happen and I got it done in the first few months. It was money well spent.

I should add that I don't iphone so that may help with my issues not recurring. But I do ipad for Gaia and will bluetooth that to the truck for offline music as well so hopefully that doesn't exacerbate it.

My 18 rebooted the other week for the first time ever. Hasn't done it since, but I'm keeping an eye on it. Good to know it sounds like there's a fix.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/head-unit-constantly-rebooting.37750/page-5#post-3158677

I have 2018 Toyota Tundra Limited with Entune™ Premium Audio JBL Head Unit.
I had a problem where it was constantly rebooting regardless of whether my iPhone was connected to the head unit over Bluetooth or not. I read online on forums where they said that Toyota had a TSB out (T-SB-0003-20) suggesting to apply the 13TDANNA-DA11_0164.kwi firmware to the head unit to fix the problem. I did that and it seemed like it fixed the issue for the first two days but then the head unit started the bad behavior again. I had the unit constantly restarting(12 to 15 times) on me especially at high speeds on the highway. Forget using bluetooth on the device to make phone calls, play music etc. It just wont work due to constant restart interrruptions.
I then went to my local dealership to see if they were willing to do anything especially when there was a TSB out and Toyota was trying to fix it. My truck is past three years manufacturer's warranty and also had more than 65,000 miles on it. They told me that the warranty on my truck was expired and asked if I had an extended warranty on the truck which I did not. At that point they said that they would have to charge me 150$ for technician time to diagnose what was the issue. I showed them the video and told them the diagnosis is the head unit is constantly restarting. Also the fact that Toyota had a new firmware out to apply to the head unit to potentially fix the problem which the head unit already has and there is nothing else that can be done other than contacting Toyota to get additional help, potentially replace the unit as a goodwill gesture. They said they cannot do anything untill I pay the fee and technician starts the diagnosis. Also, since the truck was out of warranty, they said toyota will charge for the head unit replacement which could be anywhere from 1200$ to 1800$.
I felt I should not be pursuing this route as money would be wasted regardless. So I asked them to cancel my appointment and took my truck back home. I figured if I was going to pay the technician fee for diagnosis and a head unit replacement fee, why not buy myself an after market headunit with apply play inbuilt on it(Search Sony XAV-9500ES plug & play kit installation).
That night, I went online and started reading every post regarding a head unit restart. I must say, I would have browsed atleast 50+ posts on this issue, online, between different forums and reddit groups.
There was a silver lining to all this hardwork.
I found online that the head unit restarting problem might be attributed to the Map reading hardware/software on the unit + SD card having faulty map information or incompatiblity with the latest firmware upgrade.
Something clicked and I thought there is one more thing I can try before I go on the route of changing the headunit myself.
Next day, I removed the Map SD Card out of my headunit which was already patched with the latest firmware listed above and, lo and behold, the head unit restarting issue went away. I drove the truck this way for a week at different speeds and never, not once, did my head unit restart. At that point, it was confirmed that something was wrong with my SD card map files. Of course, I did not had my maps working in the unit during all this time.
So, next, I went online and looked for the latest map SD card compatible with my truck. I found that 2022 OEM 86271 0E074 TOYOTA Navigation Micro SD Card was the latest map update containing SD card compatible with my truck. So I bought it and put it in my head unit. It has been couple of days and I am going strong. Head unit restarting problem went away plus I now have the latest maps in my system.
I just wanted to write all this out and share with the boarder community as I know I went thru a lot of trouble and frustration, trying to solve this problem.
Even if this post helps one more person solve their head unit restart problem, this was worth it.
    Good luck!

2020 Tundra, 2020 highlander (Totaled) and 2021 Highlander all have constant entune issues. Forget getting Cell service to work on the vehicles as well.

I too fixed my Entuned by removing the map SD card....that stopped the random rebooting but of course, the navigation wouldn't work...I ordered the updated SD card as you suggested and so far (one week) it is working fine and I do have navigation. Thanks so much for the suggestion...I have a 2018 Highlander XLE.

    Thanks
