Well, Im a big Toyota fan, but the newest gen Tacoma was over-hyped and under powered, by the motor and transmission mapping. Seating position was terrible for most people, and the roof was too low. The drone of the Tacoma Pro version was annoying at highway speeds. I really hope this Tundra update is better than the Tacoma update was.

This is actually a decent idea…Toyota could produce it with the cylinder deactivation technology. Even that stupid auto start/stop thing that some vehicles have at stoplights. The aftermarket could easily produce a tuner to keep that crap from even happening. We’d have our glorious V-8 and it’d still be reliable and Toyota could pass fuel mileage standards if it needed to.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
The correct solution is to immediately deactivate the system if you’re going to own a GM truck. Kind of like deactivating the old 1st-4th gear skip shift in older Z28’s and Corvette’s of the early to mid 1990’s with 6 speed manuals.

Audi is giving gasoline cars another 5 yrs
Audi is the first German manufacturer to stop producing combustion cars, including hybrid vehicles. This should end as early as 2026. Only pure battery vehicles will then be manufactured.

Still trying to figure out where all this electricity is coming from powering electric cars. I like lights on, a/c, hot showers, heat, dishwashers, washer and dryers, toaster, tv, etc. in my house.

Buffet and Gates seem to think they can cover your utilities.

Will be interesting to see how it performs, if it does well, it is likely not the last to be built.

Short version, the Tesla 3 economy is rated as 26kwh / 100 miles. Figuring 15,000 miles (150 "fill ups" of 26 kwh) nets out to 3900 kwh. Multiply by cost per kwh ($0.11 on my fixed plan) and it would cost $429 a year to drive 15,000 miles. Other variables can make "refueling" cost more volatile, but for the basics this answers my question. Thanks for the link!

On edit: this doesn't include the cost of charging equipment and install, which looks like a reasonable mid-range cost would be in the ballpark of $1500. So add $150 a year to the total above, and cost is $579 a year (assumimg you can get 10 years out of the battery without performance degradation).

Money vs happiness. For $150 a month in fuel savings you can drive something you hate. Or, for a mere $5.36 extra per day you can drive a Tundra and be happy!

And as demand for electricity goes up so will the cost to charge the batteries. And, if I had to guess, in the future, electric vehicles will cost more then gas to run???

While I also feel this is a problem the bigger problem to me is what happens to all of these disposable batteries you are going to have to replace every 5-10 years? I am not sure how it works on cars but a lot of my rechargeable batteries start losing the ability to hold a charge and now some of my older devices can be drained from fully charged within 90 minutes.

Battery technology is much better now at least for automotive applications. Companies are popping up here and there now that are focused on recovering spend car batteries but, it remains how effective this will be.
Note, IF you plan on keeping your battery truck for more than ten years and lots do, better add in the cost of a new battery pack and it won't be cheap.

what about road tax that’s built into the price of gas?
Electric cars will soon have to pay that too if there is not enough revenue from all the missing gas vehicles

They already do here in Oregon. The problem is that it is nowhere close to what it will be when the majority of cars are electric. But if people saw that cost up front, most would not go electric in the first place.

    Thanks for the info.
How are they charging road tax to electric vehicle?
I suppose one day soon, they will just read it real time through the vehicle.
Toyota has been already toying with this connected crap...

I think that the Force V8 should stay, it's just mean't for these type of trucks, when I mean types of trucks I mean heavy. It just isn't the right thing to do to put that engine in a 5640 lbs truck. What about you guys? what do you think about the hybrid engine?
