Have the dealership fix the leak / no big deal (Toyota didn't use gasket sealer like copper coat to set because it costs more during assembly) then sit back and think about the shit ton of power you're gonna get with a blower mod.

Eight more HP and most likely run at 1000 rpm more than the 5.7 for the same output. I already know.

It's a big deal to fix it.

When my truck was originally in for this, I walked around the lot and looked at the used Tundras with a flashlight. It's easy to spot the leak. I think there are more than you'd think, but I think most Tundra owners have no clue.

    Not if it's under warranty.

Requires a lot of faith in the dealership that is underpaid for this warranty issue.

Yup design it right you save money. Under design you save money up front but pay it up big time in the rear.

I'm not interested in having my low-mile engine torn down to fix a nuisance leak on the cam towers. Both sides are damp.:notsure:.

I have yet to see someone on here with a case of the a cam tower leak being anything more than annoying because it exists.

So I take it that it's out of warranty?
Me being me, if something is wrong with any vehicle I own that is under warranty, they fix it.
For a number of reasons beyond fixing that specific thing.

Yes, out of warranty. Different decision otherwise.

Took the truck for a spin today to get my windows tinted and it was the first time I really got to hear the newly installed dual exhaust.

Wow! It sounds Marvelous! Actually it was much louder than I thought it would be but it wasn’t too loud or annoying. Very pleased and definitely recommend this mod for all the V8 owners. Super easy mod even with zero experience.

I might suggest that is the greatest V8 sound, I have heard in a truck. The true cat back exhaust is awesome, I doubt it gives any real HP boost but the sound is incredible.

Keep telling yourself that. I don't think the 3.5 TT is built better than the 5.7 3UR-FE. 14 years of history will show you that 5.7 is bullet proof.

The 5.7 supercharged can't even past 200k without needing repair ummm. Maybe your right 5.7 is better built lol

Lol more complicated than the 5.7, both DOHC and the direct and port injection system is been proven since 2006. The ttv6 has stronger internals by far for the added stress of the turbos. And the water cooling in this engine through the head is actually amazing compared to 3.5 eco boost.. ttv6 will outpower the 5.7 with ease 479lbs at 2400rpm will stop the V8 no disregard.

Tire squeal, really? Have you ever really driven an I-Force ? My Truck is more than fast enough for a 3 Ton truck. Not exactly sure what you drive since you don't have the courage to promote it in your profile., so there's that.

Sorry, I look for info on the page not pics. Keep promoting something you haven't even driven yet, and hasn't even been road tested by any of us here. Just pretend its the best thing since sliced bread if that makes you happy. People here, other than you it seems just don't trust something because we're told its better.

You are comparing naturally aspirated engines. New 2022 Tundra has twin turbos, Did you not notice 583 lb-ft @ 2400 rpm? Non hybrid's max torque curve is from 2000-3600 rpms.

I own a Ford Transit with the 3.5 eco boost. It is designed for 87 octane, however it sounds and accelerates totally different with 91 octane. The power is very noticeable.

Toyota says it can run 87 on the Tundra but I would love to see how it performs on 91. My guess with owners towing things, heavy mods and hot weather they will be using 91.

Preignition and oil saturation will be of interest to me when released.

Driving a turbo is different then a naturally aspirated engine in that the turbo’s need to be used or it can get stuck waste gate issues.

I hope Toyota builds a fantastically reliable TT V6. I am not against the v6 but I will be holding out for a few years.

Having said all that, I love my Ecoboost.

The following is out of my Ford Transit manual.

    E161513
Your vehicle is designed to operate on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 or regular unleaded gasoline blended with a maximum of 85% ethanol (E85).

For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing
