This is more so for information for all the users.

I have been using Good Sams (National General Insurance) for the past several years. When we first started this little RV'n family fun "thing", it was relatively a cheap way to travel and have a good time with a shower and crapper. Our first year was 200.00, then the next was 280.00, then it went to 386.00, and I just paid the bill of 491.00. Lucky for me, we still have the mountain property and I used this address for parking, since it was a few hundred cheaper.

I did look around, and holy crap! I was getting quotes for 600-850.00 per year.

For me, this whole "Camper" experience is just getting to expensive. Next year, with the way the tax code reads, I most likely will not be able to write off the RV as a second home anymore.

I can see some new tires and brakes being installed, and a "For Sale" listing very soon.

I've been noticing this with my auto insurance. Had Allstate now for 12 years no accidents, no tickets and every 6 months they nudge it up just a little bit. I always thought as you get older, your insurance rates go down? Doesn't seem to be the case with me. About a year ago they tried to increase it $28 bucks a month so I called them and politely said ummm no... and she reduced it to a dollar something increase.

Here in CO it's been going up too. When we called they said it was due to the # of residents/cars in CO accidents have gone up, hence risk.

Well, I called most insurance companies today. They all said no way can they beat USAA insurance overall. Yep, they all were correct.

Colorado is the 3rd most expensive state for auto insurance. One more reason this place sucks. 12 more years and counting. I could in 6 years.

I called AAA, and the RV insurance was 240.00 per year, but my auto insurance went up 1500.00 per year.

Good to know... I was shocked on the trailer price, but Auto insurance is so high, and most of it ties to auto insurance when towing...

That’s correct. My flatbed is insured by my truck insurance, but only while in tow. This is why I always have my flatbed hooked up, so it’s covered.;)

I know apples and oranges, but I have all my insurance & banking through USAA. When I bought my boat, they said they use Progressive for boat insurance. So, my policy is Progressive through USAA (not sure how all that works) but they charge me $263/yr. I shopped around, but when I factored in the price increase on the cars, it negated any savings on the boat.

I looked at Progressive through USAA, and it was over 600.00.

I kinda laugh. Our home is insured for 675,000. We pay 1450.00 a year in a really high chance of fire.

Yep. I only have a 2015 pop up and I’m thinking of unloading it. I like to camp but now that the girls are older a sweet family tent might be in my future.
I have USAA and they direct me to Progressive for my boat and camper. It’s fairly reasonable. Maybe check them out.

Man, that's crazy expensive for a camper. I added a travel trailer to our Auto insurance (Safeco) last year and it costs me $100/yr.

Another way to insure a boat is to put it as a rider on your homeowners. Ended up being less than 1/2 the cost per year. 22' Center Console with 175hp Suzuki, $198 year. For better coverage, lower deductible, and higher coverage limits.

The 28' toyhauler comes in around $200 year, this is with $10,000 in personal property coverage (content inside the camper while travelling). The toyhauler is a 2006, little bit older.

I do have EVERYTHING through the same company, North Carolina Farm Bureau. Home, motorcycle, dirtbike, golf cart, vehicles, camper, boat...Everything. They cut me a considerable break, and when I see my rates go up even the slightest amount I call and tell them I'm shopping all available companies to move all of my insurance.

I wouldn’t doubt that with Safeco.
