I would argue that higher octane at higher elevations is a good idea. These engines still make the same power at elevation due to the turbos, but in the process make more heat because the air has to be compressed more.

Also, at least here in UT, its only 15-20 cents more to go from 88 to 91 octane so I just run 91 no matter what in all my cars.

Thanks. Any thoughts on ethanol or non-ethanol at altitude?

I really don’t think it matters. People think that non-ethanol improves mpg but I doubt it. The difference in energy between 0% and 10% ethanol is 3%.

And there is a benefit to ethanol. Its heat of vaporization is higher than gasoline so it will cool the cylinders more when injected

Top tier 87 is all I run. I’ve seen 22.5 mpgs. It’s got 1700 miles odometer.

Marinas still sell ethanol free gas in Ontario, on weekends you will see line ups for folks with ATV/dirtbikes filling up.

interesting. I see Canadian tire in kenora also sells ethanol free. Not sure how up to date the “ethanol free” web site is.

    good for Ontario.
