Any chance of having one side with the glass window and the other side solid? I see that there isn't such an option yet.

Not currently, some Tacoma customers will meet up and trade doors sometimes.

I had thought of this configuration as well. I would have liked a solid panel w/tool box on one side and window in addition to the front, for ventilation, on the other.

If we both buy one, we can swap out and both get what we need... :monocle:

For camping purposes, is there a way to lock and unlock the Smartcap canopy from the inside?

As stated earlier they don't exist yet. They should start production possible as soon as Sept.

Is anything sold on that site the same as the original product being ripped off?

Agreed! Love them on some jeeps and trucks , they look dumb on some other vehicles. From the demo I saw online on our 3rd Gen Tundras, the sport model looks amazing IMHO but I want to see more photos. I’m hoping that we will see more updates as they ship their first Tundra builds this Fall. I know the adventure model offers solid windows for the storage bins, but I like the sport model with the glass, just looks more inviting to me (a personal choice, very subjective). The issues with locks freezing in cold is a big concern for me that I need to know has been resolved. Also being able to open from the inside is a crucial factor that has not been implemented yet to my knowledge.

I had issues with the locks in the winter. I installed the lock covers that mike supplied me with and that took care of the problem. I leave them on year round but it is an added step to opening the hatches. Still really happy with the smart cap.

Wondering if anyone knows the width from one rail to the other. Curious, if the 1255mm load bars will fit?

Hi Mike, are they in production now? If ordered today, when is the delivery expected?

I gotten a confirmed 2 month lead time for GFC topper. But it sits a bit higher up, which will make my RTT around 1" higher than normal tops. But with their side rails they do have a 1.5" crossbar solution which involved 80/20 aluminum.

What is the lowest profile crossbar solution for the RSI? I am assuming T nut + 80/20 should exist for this one too.

No they are finishing up their F150 run. They will get back to Tundra starting in OCT.

We have used the Bush company load bars for lowest possible mounting.
    https://mikescustomtoys.com/products/rooftop-tent-load-bars
They require these to install, we stock them as well

Any suggestions on how to seal the roof “vent” which leaks profusely now even in the slightest of precipitation.

I just ordered my Smartcap EVO Sport 6.5’ for ‘22 Tundra from Offroad Alliance. I put in requests for the new cold resistant latches and ability to open the doors from the inside. Other than the prototype image seen in this thread there are none yet in the wild in my understanding, production slated to commence in October and my delivery ETA late November. I will document the entire build and installation process in detail. I took some pics of a smartcap on a Jeep that I saw in Alaska earlier this summer and was so impressed once again with the look and quality of the cap. Will post those as well.

So looks like they are really starting production in October. I will be ordering mine soon. I am wondering whether you are going in for camera relocation kit?

Great to hear you’re also ordering one @ovwrl4nd, will be fantastic to compare install process and brainstorm re accessories.

I read about the camera relocation kit and watched the video, TBH I found it a bit intimidating but should probably think about it again.

Does the kit only relocate the camera that looks onto the rear bed? I don’t really ever use that camera (so far) with just the tonneau cover…I may want to use it a lot more with the RSI however.

Do you know if the backup and bird’s eye view camera will still work fine? Those are the most impt for me by a long shot. Re accessories did you go for any bins or half bins; are you going for the sport or adventure or commercial?

I considered the table and some roof racks but haven’t added any add-ons to the order yet. I’m a bit worried about fitting into my garage with the smartcap on, and may wait until after installation before deciding on any roof load bars or racks.

Looking fwd to learning more re: your plan for your build!

It relocates the rear view mirror camera too. TRD Pro and some trims on Limited, as well as higher variants have the electronic RVM. If it was just the bed cam I would not bother. But to have the RVM functionality, I guess relocation is needed.

Thanks for your reply, I also have the electronic RVM. I don’t use it a whole lot TBH but it is a very nice (and expensive) feature. Especially when driving with the cap, it will be very hard to see behind the truck using just the standard mirror. It sounds like this will be an essential upgrade.

Went to a local dealer today, and he said that RSI smartcap estimates are not reliable. Their Texas factory is apparently not up yet, and on F150s the promised lead time was never met, and it took 6 months more. He does have a Tacoma 6' in stock which he wants to sell.

I am exploring the GFC topper too, but the reviews suggest water sealing is not that good on the GFC topper.
