That is the route I would take. Small refund from RRW should be enough to cover the cost of a Dewalt angle grinder and a couple disks.

Michael, It is apparent that all of the installation issues photographed in the thread stem from the one conflicting rivet on each frame rail. Getting that rectified immediately will help immensely. I was able to take a grinder to it for 30 seconds on each side, but not everyone is going to want to put in that extra effort.

Instructions or an installation video should be a quick second priority.

I'm still betting 4/5 people who can't figure out how to install them are just not doing it right. =]

I mean, my truck is a 14’, but lining it up perfectly I still have 1/2” of slider on the rivet. I don’t think it’s installer error, either way I’ll be fixing it this weekend and possibly adding some more 3/8 hardware

Tint (1/19/18). On wish list (not in order):TRD dual exhaust, TRD Intake. TRD Pro Suspension swap, TRD Pro skid plate, TRD Pro or 2018 LED w/DLR light swap, TRR Pro Grill and black hood lip, Chrome delete w/powder coat paint matched bumpers . Some nice wheels w/slightly meatier tires. Deciding on steering swap to leather or just leather wrap. Deciding on TRD Pro shifter. Super wishful list: TRD Supercharger.
    Hi Michael,

So good of you to join us! We have been going over the design issues with your product on this thread.

Are you sure the 'extra stiffness' provided by having the 'optional' bottom tabs fastened to the truck frame is not required to prevent side bolts from seeing too much shear force (and failing). I'm not suggesting anyone drills holes in their frame (especially on the bottom face). The holes (or slots) in the bottom tabs should just line up with existing M8 tapped holes in the truck frame.

I'm not sure I would jack up my truck or slide on any rocks with these 'rock sliders' before connecting bottom tabs to the frame.

Damn you're dense. Pics aren't enough proof AND RRW themselves saying they don't fit isn't enough. You're a lost cause.
Can I cut some shit, re-angle some shit & buy more hardware & make them fit? Yep. Should I have to? Nope.

I agree with this statement. I wasn't going to post it but since you did, I totally agree. Posts like that are what give truly shitty companies a glimmer of hope. The post should say something like "Man I'm so happy that my RRW sliders fit well but it's clear that the vast majority have issues. RRW should really address that before anyone else buys sliders from them."

I'm not dense, I just don't whine. It looks like 5 minutes of work to cleanly remove a tiny bit of material. I would have just made them fit using my "asskick fabrication skills" and reported back. It wouldn't have been 2 weeks of whining about it. I guess different strokes for different folks. Good luck getting them installed!

I don’t consider it whining to expect a $1k+ product that claims to be bolt-up to fit as expected from the vendor. There’s clearly a QA issue at hand, and @The Patriot 1776 has every right to call that out.

I could argue that incessant whining without developing our own solutions is why the phrase "full Karen" exists. Shit happens. Not everyone is perfect every time. Companies make mistakes. I've had several little fitment issues between two Tundras and a 4runner from lots of companies and only once have I publicly complained about a product. It's 100% your right to do so, but it's also 100% my right to get frustrated with the multiple PMs asking for pictures/help/instructions and just start giving people a hard time for not being self-starters. Now clearly everyone here is really upset. I'm just going to back out and let you settle it with RRW. The guy came in and said he was working to resolve everyone's problems.. maybe wait for a solution before branding them as a "truly shitty company?"

I didn't read the entire thread before responding last time - I have been getting a ton of messages asking for pictures, advice, install instructions on this product.. I don't really have as much time as I once did to read through all this crap, so my apologies for not realizing that a production mistake had been uncovered.

All the questions about hardware grades and sheer strength don't seem to be taking the bottom/frame resting tabs into consideration. The overwhelming majority of any lateral load is going to be on the sliders, not the hardware.

I'm not a fanboy. I have one product from this company (this one) and I admitted it had problems. I've driven the truck 1500 miles since installing the sliders and the powdercoat is terrible. I keep the truck clean and we haven't had any snow to drive in, even if I had been driving, and every tight spot and weld on these sliders is rusting.

I'm not a fan boy, I'm just going to fix the problem and get on with my life instead of whining about it. As I said, different strokes!

If you read through RRWs reputation across other platforms (specifically Tacoma) this is their M.O. Product fitment issues are consistent, customer support is consistently lacking, etc. The bottom line is (and I don't have RRW Sliders, I'm fabricating my own this weekend), its great that you are willing to grind or modify the $1k+ product to get it to fit as advertised. I would have done the same thing as I posted earlier in this thread. That being said, it shouldn't be mandatory and RRW's response seems disingenuous as multiple people appear STILL to have not received a response to their inquiries (again, seems fairly consistent with RRW).

No - it shouldn't be mandatory. I fully expect RRW to offer some sort of partial refund or another form of compensation. But when you look at the problem it is literally 5-15 minutes of work. Should you have to do it? Nope. Is it really tantrum worthy? I guess so!

There was no whining there - I had never had retrofits and was asking genuinely if that's something I should be upset about. Just FYI, it turned out that the projectors were aimed terribly and everything was wrong with that retrofit.

I didn't whine. I didn't try to drag the company through the mud. I got opinions from experienced people and I took my solution offline. I was fully refunded, by the way. I did SUE them. After several months of chasing my money IN THE REAL WORLD and not getting anywhere, I took the LLC to court and got a 100% refund. I offered to give the company his lights back and he didn't even want them because they were so fucked up. When I wrote the thread I hadn't yet attempted to install them so I had no idea how bad they truly were.

So, to be clear, if there was something I could have done to fix them I would have gone that route - but they were beyond repair and completely throw away material.

    Also - HAHAHAHA.

Keep digging and you'll find another thread where some Toytec products took a large shit on me and I just dealt with it. =]

    Different strokes.

Here's a thought, let RRW answer their questions and tell the buyers if they are expected to modify them. The moment someone takes a grinder to them, RRW will not warranty or stand behind them and rightfully so.

It's a public form and without topics like this, it's just "look at my truck". Which gets old fast.
