Hey guys I have noticed my 2018 has starting doing this weird surging shortly after cranking the vehicle. It's usually more noticeable in the morning times. Once I back out of my drive way and put it in drive I usually only have to give it a little throttle to make it to the stop sign. When I release off the gas the rpms drop like normal then jump up about 200 rmps 1-5 times depending on how bad it is that day. This is sometimes enough to even make the truck sort of lunge. It usually happens the first few stops I make as I have 3 stop signs leaving my house. Any idea what would be causing this? It does also happen when I start up after work, but usually way less noticeable.

At cold start, RPMs are up and it can feel like the truck is pushing, lurching. Everything is cold, not at operating temp.

However, how many miles on your truck? Plugs and air filter service up to date? If you are close to 100k miles, need spark plug replacement. All of those things can impact drivability and smoothness of the truck. MAF may need cleaning as well.

Ah yes more info would probably help. 2018 with 38,000 miles all maintenance is up to date. This just started happening about a month ago. I have a video of it but not sure what’s the best way to upload it.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on it's not normal at all. never had this issue before or in my previous Toyotas. Today I was leaving work and had to load a few boxes from our loading dock into the back of the truck. I backed towards the dock and let go of the throttle and went to slightly tap the brake the truck was surging but in reverse. It seems to do it after a few minutes of operation now also.
