Did you wrap your flares over bare plastic?

I did, it’s not recommended, but I have the ability to fix it if I start to have issues with it.

Is the surface smooth or textured like the factory flares?

Great. I think I can wrap them for a lot less than almost $400 extra for paint.

You will never get a perfect match from vinyl to paint, and a wrap will not last as long as paint, but you can indeed wrap them.

Oh, I know. You can get close but not exact. I wrapped my camper top close to MGM on my last truck. It was real close but not perfect. It wasn't any worse than the array of grey's from the hood, grill surround, and headlight fillers on my 2019. I know wrapping isn't as lasting as paint but will probably resist rock chips on the flares better than paint.

In this thread, I think someone has aftermarket mudflaps.

Do you have pictures of what you did to make the factory flaps work?

    Lots of stuff!
I think the rek gen flaps would be a good choice with the RC flares. The OE flaps are short and take up space in the wheel well so they become the first thing to contact your larger tires when you add larger tires. :)

Do you have a full side view? Deciding if I wanna color match flares or keep em black. Plus here in Hawaii gotta have mud flaps too. So far yours is the only one I've seen with both. Thx!

How do you guys like your flares after some use ? They holding up ? Was looking at the painted ones and was curious as far as the guys running zero offset wheels . Did the flares help keep the cameras under the side view mirror cleaner ? Are the flares damaging your paint at all ?

12 offset, loving them. With mud flaps very minimal mess on the sides.

all flares will damage paint, my factory flares were wearing through the paint. I may have a wrap guy put 3m under my flares at some point, but it’s not a big deal

Do your side view mirror cameras get attacked by water from the wheels in the rain ? I have zero offset and the tires just seem to aim for there lol

Not a problem in my SR5. No cameras in the mirrors. Or in the grille, or the 3rd brake light. Just the windshield and the tailgate. I don’t even have BSM or parking sensors. Had most of it in my Tacoma, don’t miss any of it.

Do you think the smooth flares will cover up a zero offset wheels (18x9.5) I’m curious if the smooth ones will be enough . They look like they don’t extend as far as the picket flares

from my understanding they are all 2 in of coverage. Now that bushwacker has their flares out I’d get those. 3in coverage, much better and still available without the atrocious rivets and cut outs

Finished installing the flares yesterday. I messed up and had to wait for more PPF tape since I ran out after doing the front. They look good and eliminate a good bit of wheel poke.
While I waited, I blacked out the mustache with plastidip
