I too have been looking for something "OEM" but very hesitant on drilling holes in the cab.

on the tundra build from the expedition overland guys, they drilled the cab for an equipt k9 rack and used rivnuts. starts at about the 8 min mark.

estimated ship date from prinsu/cbi on my racks is 8/13.

I talked to David at coach builder in great detail about using rivnuts. He agreed that they just aren’t as strong and reliable as nuts, washers, bolts and thread lock. I personally wouldn’t want to take the chance on rivnuts only. They might be fine but I didn't want to take the risk.

I have the same concerns on using rivnuts for the roof racks. If I were to do this I would definitely take out the headliner and use regular bolts, washers, and nuts. Additionally, with the headliner removed you could check to see that all the holes are caulked and sealed properly and then do a leak test before putting everything back.

A few suggestions for install tips. I used a fully adjustable template to make sure my roof rack was square from side to side before drilling and bolting it down.

Here’s a pic showing the bolts installed. This is where the bolts will come through after drilling in notch for the rubber. Be extremely careful you don’t drill to deep! The airbags are below those holes and you can hit them if you drill to deep. I used a special sealer similar to headlight housing seal on the bolts. Then I also used a caulking sealant rated for outdoor exposure and sunlight to seal around the wire and bolts. So they really have two different layers of sealant on them.

For those of you that want a roof rack, but don’t want to drill, @Datin Metal Fab has the option below on their IG. They introduced themselves recently and it seems to be a decent option for a no drill roof rack with some sort of bed rack.

No idea. @Datin Metal Fab may be able to chime in though.

I know this style rack is very popular for the Baja 1000 chase rigs, known as a chase rack. Seems like it may fit your needs without drilling holes. I personally dig the KC M racks quite a bit, but I’m not sure I want to pay $3k to just have to drill holes in my roof.

The rack posted above is a project that we are currently working on and should have tested this week, granted, it's for a UTV and not s pickup. However, if there is interest in a cab height rack with an over cab style rack like that I'd be willing to design and build a few. Thanks @the_midwesterner

I am looking for a roof rack for my CM that fits flush to my roof and no more than a few inches tall. Anything out there?

Yes, all options require drilling your roof.
