What is it that you want to carry? I was just looking at them an hour ago, don't need a basket, will probably go Yakima towers BC121 front, BC129 back, with Yakima JetStream Crossbars, for SUPs.

Nothing heavy, some 2x4s, pipes, and maybe some stuff for bug-out. :D Yakima are nice but I want something that looks integrated. I know it's not possible w/o drilling the roof. I think I'll look for racks above the cap instead. Rhino Racks makes some nice ones. I priced all the stuff I need and it was $1500-$2000. Any pros and cons to have the rack above to cab or the cap? I think they all have about the same 200lbs +/- limit.

I could go all out and get something similar to this. I don't like this particular design though. It has to fit tighter to the cap and lower profile.

If you don’t mind the look of caps and will use the storage, plus a rack on top, that’s very functional. You just need to get up there whether it’s over the cap or roof. And you may need to strengthen the back leafs because of the added weight.

Or, a Diamondback HD is $2000 and holds 1600lb, a SE is $1600 and holds 400lb, the cover is the same, the support underneath is different between the two. Add an OEM Toyota bed step or Bestop step that slides in/out, and it’s easy to reach, less risk of back strain than something roof height. That frees up the bed, except you’re limited by bed length and how much what you’re carrying extends past the tailgate.

Love my DB, if you end up getting one, this is a super easy USB charged magnetic LED light, no wiring, motion activated.

Nice! But I have a cap so this won't work for me.

If I had a cap, I would prefer stepping on the lowered tailgate and working off the back over the cap, not the roof front. Something like this, ask texbambam if interested (his truck).

Price is right on the Prinsu. Let me know how the install is, please. I'm 90% sure this is what I'll get too, just not sure if I'm gonna be the one to install it.

I believe Prinsu you drop the headliner. The new Rhino Rack model that will be out shortly is almost the same as Prinsu but you drill from top and add Acorn style Rivnuts, circumventing the need to drop the headliner. I spoke to both at OE West, and was really leaning towards the Rhino Rack model...

Just picked up some Thule AeroBlades (60") off Craigslist (with feet & lock kit) for $180. Once I get the fit kit, the setup will be done for under $300. Doubt I could spend a dollar more for roof racks.

sure thing. probably going to be awhile though. day job is putting me back on the road. weeeeee...

yes, i'll have to drop the headliner. i need to do it anyway as i have to drill a hole for the ham antenna. while it's down, i might as well throw up the left over soundskins i have.

No judgement here: I think drilling is an easier call for those of us who live where 10 inches of rain is a good year, and the mere prospect of rain is the top story on the evening news.
