It is about 2/3 cereal and 1/3 PofP (IIRC). Experiment with ratios until it works. My wife says it just needs to be a sweetened dry powdered food of some sort (instant oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc.).

Driving my son to school one morning a couple winters ago a rat came up onto the outside of my windshield from the wiper trim area! I tried to flip him off the truck with the wiper blades but I apparently missed because the next morning the bastard had chewed up my knock harness.
Since then I installed noise/light emitters hard wired to the batteries inside the engine bay, stainless meshed the cabin air intakes and sprinkle Repels All around the perimeter every couple days once it starts getting cold.
    So far its working...Fingers crossed!

Had rats TOTAL a Land Rover LR3 in Texas. I tried to keep them out with peppermint sprays, moth balls and physical traps in the engine bay. I got a few with the physical traps, but they laughed at all the aroma-deterrents. That was a third vehicle parked under an RV cover. After they destroyed that truck I got real serious with Just One Bite poison and think that took them all out. But, I was wary of parking anything in that spot again for more than a day or so.

They will chew through that alone. Add #4 steel wool and with the spray foam.

I was 15 years old and watched my neighbor across the street let his girlfriend shott his 44 mag. She insisted she knew what she was doing so he let her. We were out at the river and she aimed and was standing fine then for whateverthefuckreason at the very last second she leaned in closer and and kind bent both elbows. Nobody had time to say a word and BAM!!! Black eye

Mostly chipmunks out in the country. Lots of feral cats keep the rat population down. My moms highlander had a bunch and mine too. Chewed the windshield defroster and wiper wires.

Managed to get one of the bastards in a trap on Saturday. I really don't want to put out poison due to the amount of hawks and great horned owls in our area. But they need to do a better job. Ordered plaster of paris and will attempt that method. Sprayed the engine bay with Tom Cat, this is on the rental Tundra, while mine is in the shop. Also leaving the hood up so the engine doesn't stay as warm. And cleared out a bunch of english ivy, so they don't have a place to congregate and plan their attack.

Last year I posted a pic of a mouse nest in the air cleaner of my Corolla. I found it after the CE light came on. That car is my daily driver and is parked on the driveway right at the garage. Years before that something had chewed through the fuel line of my daughters CRV. I repaired the fuel line and took and went for a test drive only to find a trail of coolant in the driveway. A small coolant hose also had a hole in it. Whatever did the damage hopefully died from either a shot of gas in the mouth or antifreeze.

Prior to moving, lived in a semi-rural community. Suburbia but zoned for horses and other livestock (this was CA and smallish lots). Combination of good weather, fruit trees, and livestock was great for the rat population. Tried all sorts of traps, they would work once, but not twice. We would set up cameras to watch them side skirt and learn how to pick off the bait. It was actually kind of amusing, except for the damage created to car and truck.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
$500 to replace crankshaft position sensors, vehicle would not shift into OD. Then my 4runner had its CPS also cut threw (no chewing, just one clean cut), that one I could repair but it was worse, zero start until wire re-connected.

On the flip side, I love Squirrel Soup, it is absolutely delicious.
