I had an experience with State Farm recently after being hit by one of their insured. My truck sustained damage to the bed, suspension, and axle. The Toyota dealer body shop said it was totaled and forwarded the estimated value of the truck and the repair estimate. The initial adjuster did not add any value for any aftermarket parts. He told me there was not a place to mark that on his estimate sheet. State Farm then gave me an offer. I rejected their offer for my 'totaled' Tundra. Eventually, about 2 weeks later, a 'Claim Specialist' got in touch with me to find out why I felt their offer was inadequate. She then said that a 3rd party appraiser can come up with a value just from the photos the body shop took. I also provided receipts for the dealer installed supercharger, new suspension pieces, headlights, floor mats etc...... literally everything I had added to the truck and had a receipt for. They came back with an offer that was substantially higher than the initial one. Then they totaled the receipts I provided for the additional parts and adjusted it down by about 70% and added it to the new higher valuation of the vehicle.

Short story, I ended up with a check slightly higher than the initial buyout and was able to keep the truck. I found most of the parts I needed at a single junkyard. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like.

Cool, thanks for the info! I've already removed the supercharger and most of the supporting mods. I still need to remove the Genuine Cooling Transmission Cooler lines, the Setrab trans cooler itself is already removed. I'll wait to remove the aftermarket wheels to return to stock until after the adjuster comes out. I'll be removing the TRD sway bars front and rear. Not sure if I'll be able to remove the lowering kit or not, and return that to stock before they tow it off. Depends on how many days between adjuster looks at it and they tow it away. I'll definitely see if I can negotiate on the value of the truck. Not even 10k miles on the truck yet

Damn. I hate people. I won't even be nice enough to say not all people. Too many are just selfish jerks who run from any responsibility. I may be bitter because I've been on the receiving end of multiple hit and runs, but none were this bad.

@M3Tundra-JK I hope the douche that did this grows a bit of spine and owns up to it. Barring that, I hope your insurance plays well with the mods for you.

My initial thoughts were that the truck is salvageable. I have no idea what it should cost though. Do you want them to total it? Very sorry this happened.

Ikr! Even if it's just the bed and body panels getting replaced, the labor is gonna be more than that.

I'm conflicted. My original plan was to make my modifications, then take the truck to auction on BringATrailer.com. Not going to get top dollar anymore with a big ol Accident on the VINs car fax. I won't know what I'm doing with it now until this situation is all sorted, and I know the full extent of the damage.

Any recommendations on places to service BMW's besides a dealership since we both are in CO?

BimmerHaus in Broomfield did my SMG Hydraulic pump replacement. Went above and beyond on working with my Warranty company to get everything covered! I'll be taking the M3 back there for rod bearing replacements. Far drive even though I'm in Se Aurora. But I've had an amazing warranty since owning the car and been all over Denver to different shops. This one is my fav so far.

got the original gas tank lines reconnected. Went to start the truck but the brake pedal appears to be fully depressed and will not go back to normal position. The truck will not even crank and has a Brake Malfunction error

Ebrake seems to work fine. I took the wheel off and checked the brake and the caliper seems to be seized also.

Doing some research, others have had this same Brake Malfunction light come on when the tail lights weren't connected and it blew a fuse under the steering wheel. Checked those fuses and all seem to be fine. but an Open Circuit in the tail lights could be the cause....don't think that would cause my brake pedal to seize, though

I had a window issue, all fuses looked fine but one was not. Try replacing all that might be involved. Maybe the circuit is fubar from the taillight being crushed.

I took the tire and brake caliper off. The caliper appears seized, though I can't see any real damage to it. piston may be deformed. I took the tailgate off, and about to watch a vid on how to remove the bed side skirt. @reywcms any tips on removing the bed fender panels? looks like I need to drill out some rivets

    Too many mods to come

They’re one piece attached to the bed when we installed the glass we cut them out. It’s a pain in the you know what. Few videos online showing where to cut etc. Be easier to find a used bed honestly. I’ve seen a few floating around Craig’s list

Apparently I need a T55 and I was using a T51. T51 fit because of the dump over spray liner inside the head of the bolt. trip to auto store and a redbull

That truck will need a whole new bed, I think you will find all sorts of stuff broken once they do their initial work up. I would almost bet the frame is bent past what anyone would call salvageable. There is going to be all sorts of things that are way out of whack.
