SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Cormac McCarthy, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist who in prose both dense and brittle took readers from the southern Appalachians to the desert Southwest in such novels as “The Road,” “Blood Meridian” and “All the Pretty Horses,” died Tuesday. He was 89.

Publisher Alfred A. Knopf, a Penguin Random House imprint, announced that McCarthy died of natural causes at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
    RIP.

    RIP.

The Road was fantastic but rough. Blood Meridian is on my reading list.

No Country For Old Men and The Road are my favorites but Blood Meridian is definitely a must read that I need to get to

The book was superior to the movie but they really rocked the hell outta the flick. Casting was on point.

89 and natural causes sounds like a good run. Probably a mistake, but I always kinda pictured him like the Sheriff protagonist in No Country. That whole sub-plot about retirement being simultaneously a well-earned ease of stress, and also lacking necessary challenge.

My favourite of his is No Country for Old Men but Blood Meridian is up there.

I'm glad I read The Road but it was disturbing enough that I have no desire to read it again. Wasn't a fan of the All the Pretty Horses series, possibly because half of it is in Spanish.
