Added a pic of the cmc I did to post #51.

Had a couple questions in PM’s about that so I wanted to share. I will add more to that post about my set up with the fox’s As I have time.

So... ordered a new toy today.

    544D1AFD-05CF-455C-B8C3-875A5097009B.jpg

Had a CVT on my tacoma, but sold it a couple years back (finishing school, work etc took all my spare time). Excited to do some camping soon.

And for those wondering, yes. Rear suspension is coming. Just couldn’t pass up this deal with the members coupon rei has at the moment.

Just in time for tundras to Sedona too...

Made good progress on by bed rack/bed bars. They will not be normal bed bars... :spy:

So I can MIG good and clean, but TIG has been tough to learn. Challenged myself to tig as much of this rack as I could. The TIG skills are getting there :D

If you can do MIG and any amount of TIG, you're way ahead of me. I can only JB.

Teaser pics... almost done. Just need to do some math and figure out what length and strength gas springs I want to use.

Hell yeah! Ask @osidepunker about using an actuator to lift and lower it with a motor. His setup flips sideways and it’s bad ass.

I can’t find pictures for some reason. Alex, where’s that one where it’s open and the whip is lit?

12v actuators are cheaper and more reliable than gas struts

You use one or two? What weight capacity did you plan for? Obviously depends on your mounting angles and the levers but just trying to get a point to go off of.

Have a link to the ones you used? They are all x4 as much from what I’ve seen

Sry, I'm at work or I would send you lots of pics and info.

Google Progressive Automations. Were very helpful. I knew the weight of my rack and tent and I calculated the angles for a Class C lever. I needed 1400 lbs actuator with a certain stroke. I was able to order a 2000 lbs actuator with the stroke I needed for like $300 or so with a good warranty. Its IP rated also. Let me know if you have detailed questions and I'll try to help you out.

Appreciate it. I’ll look into it. I may end up trying the gas spring option since I can have those for $40 or so. I will do some research and see where I land.

Anyone with XL80’s on hood mounts, how do you like them? Looking into getting this setup but have some concerns about hood glare and for every day driving if it creates a blind spot.

You can see on mine soon haha. My canons are a bit taller than the xl80’s and have never even been a thought daily driving

Never an issue, I think they're a great useful mod, main suggestion is to keep em Amber. White is just too much that close to the windshield and hood

So after driving around for a week now with the tent in this rack, I think I have some changes I want to make.

Biggest thing being that I litterally cannot see anything out my back window. Not a huge deal but its kinda a pain in the ass.

Honestly may just scrap this idea and build something a little taller that lets me have at lease a few inches of visibility. But, not sure I’ll have time to do that before t2s.

Probably try living with it a little longer but we shall see

Lots of drivers drive without a rear view mirror, ie truckers.

I can't see out of mine. Its not a big deal, you'll get used to it. I have my passenger mirror angled like normal. My drivers mirror is angled so that I have a normal view of the lane, but if I shift my head to the left, I can see directly behind the truck.

I even drive trails like this and I never use my backup camera. Its hard to see the tiny screen anyways.

Yeah ours is the same. I drove a box van for a few years for work and it had no windows other than windscreen and the front door windows. No backup camera. You kinda just get used to it after a while.

Lisa and I both still adjust the rear view mirror every time the other one drove though. Even though we can’t see shit. LoL

    Hahaha habits.

I used to drive this thing thousands of miles a year so I’m not a stranger to it, just missing my mirror at the moment haha.

44’ toterhome with a 26’ trailer. Thing was bad ass.

Truck looks badass man! we got pretty close to same set up. I'm curious what your alignment numbers are with those Camburg arms? if you don't mind sharing?

I will see if I have the paperwork still and share it with you. But, I don’t think I do :(

I can tell you that everything hit spec easily and truck tracks great.

Thanks Kyle! if you find those numbers id love to see them. PM if you want. I have mine set up pretty well but can say I'm not 100% happy with the way they drive. at least on road. still -1 camber and 6.2* caster so trying to find a decent alignment shop that can get it done like you have! I will see yea up at T2S soon!
