    Corporate security, right?

or bodybuilder, I cannot remember which one for you.

Always Taylor your resume to the specific job add you are applying to..start with a small paragraph describing yourself as a person and how you will be an asset to the company and the existing culture. Then list your skills followed by the jobs you held. The listed skills should be reflected in the jobs you held and how those jobs helped you acquire those skills.
Then list all your education followed by and certifications are licences.

The biggest thing is to remove every bit of military jargon/acronyms. Civilians/feds don't understand it, and it scares them. Barney style is the way to go! I know theres a website (army acap or something) where you can go online to look up civilian equivalent to jobs/tasks. That will help a lot.

    If you dont have a simple email, literally....first name.last name@ server.com

    @4x4_Angel

    https://www.usajobs.gov/?c=fed-app-process

This would be a good place to start. First You need to dial in on what career opportunities you want to pursue. Depending what your applying for keep in mind you will have to look at age cutoff locations, requirements, phyisical requiremets etc. USA jobs has all types of employment opportunities. And you can use your Vet status under VRA (Veterans Readjustment Act) and/or degree(s) earned. Veterans that have served Honorably are given a high priority in Federal Service job opportunities.

As others may have stated keep your resume to one page, don't be overly concerned about military verbiage/jargon. (Keep the reviewer engaged) You need to capture the reviewer in the first paragraph/snapshot of why they should contact you and hire you. Resume reviewers have military backgrounds on the panel, many many civil service employees are Vets.
When your submitting a ONE page resume its pretty easy to clean up the military jargon. I have reviewed hundreds of resumes and interviewed several hundred applicants during my career. I have reccomended and pushed hundreds of applicants forward into the next step of the pipeline. Have excellent current up to date contacts for solid references. Can't stress this enough and be totally transparent.

Having said all this, you may need to relocate or on a long shot you may find some thing in Texas. A career change does not come without some sacrifice.
Applying on this link will get you the exposure. Register and start looking at all the employment opportunities where your skill sets will work and be a great fit. Why not float your resume out there? You have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

    Now get to work

I'm registered on usajobs.....have been for years. never had any luck on that damn site for anything. relocating isn't an option for me right now with my kids unless i want to spend about umpteen grand on going to court to fight for my kids to bring them with and I'm NOT willing to leave them....many reasons behind this.

Angel, Indeed is a great search engine for jobs. You probably know that, but figured I'd throw it out there.

From what I have seen the written test/interview hold a lot of weight with government jobs. You just need the qualifications to get your name in the hat.

Obviously this all depends on the agency but the resume may not hold much weight.

There are usually many applicants and many raters for the interviews so the interviews are standardized.

Preparation for the test and interview specific to the job position are essential in my opinion.

Maybe you have already started this...but if not do you have everything written down for your SOPH? If your going to stay in law enforcement it would be good to have a copy of one of those filled out that way you can just copy it for any other jurisdiction you may apply at. I hated filling that thing out more then I did starting my resume.

Statement of Personal History. Unless your parents are married and you have never left home and only had one job those things can be a huge pain to fill out.
